|Tour de KidsThe annual tour de Kids family cycling event will be held on June 17, 2001, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in Downtown Ann Arbor (Corner of South University and East University). Join other families with their youngsters for bicycle races for ages 3-12, as well as face painting and craft activities. Race participants are grouped by age and sex. This year, for the fifth year, separate races will be held for special needs children. The emphasis is on family fun. Participating children receive a finisher's medal, water bottle, T-shirt, pizza and pop. |
Race heat winners receive trophies. A $2 donation is suggested. This donation will be split between the following not-for profit charities: MADD, the Junior Development Program of the Ann Arbor Velo Club and the United Mitochondria Foundation. Advance registration is required. This annual event is expected to attract 1,200 participants, along with their families. The first 1,200 participants qualify for T-shirt, medal, and water bottle.
The festival will include other activities for children including entertainment, clowns, arts & crafts -- make a decorated flower pot for Dad,
tattoos, face painting, a moonwalk, and balloons. There will also be the lively Dad's Dash for Cash where Dad's race on tricycles for charity. Pre-registration by June 11 is strongly encouraged for all participants.
This year the Tour de Kids -- the largest kids' bike race in the country -- promises to be bigger and better than ever. Approximately 1,200 participants are expected along with their families.
