|IMBA Launches Pilot UK Trailbuilding Crew ProjectIMBA will launch a pilot Trailbuilding Crew this autumn in the United Kingdom. The UK Trailbuilding Crew is modeled after the highly successful Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew that has led trailbuilding and maintenance projects worldwide since 1997. The pilot is made possible by the generous support of UK Forest Enterprise. |
The UK Trailbuilding Crew will lead IMBA's trailbuilding and advocacy efforts throughout the country. The team, which will be led by Dafydd Davis of UK Forest Enterprise, will lead four trailbuilding schools at FE recreation centers and will work with mountain bike clubs in Wales, England and Scotland. The crew's goal is to help UK mountain bikers develop sustainable cross country and downhill trails.
"The pilot UK Trailbuilding Crew is our next step in supporting the UK mountain biking community," said Judd de Vall, IMBA's International Coordinator. "UK mountain bikers need better trails and better trail access. IMBA understands what mountain bikers want and we have the tools and experience to help them achieve their goals."
The UK Trailbuilding Crew's schedule is:
August 24 - 26 Coed-y-Brenin, Wales
September 1-2 Dalby, England
September 7-8 Afan Argoed, Wales
September 14-15 Mabie Forest, Scotland
Each event will include relevant, hands-on education and plenty of fun riding and laid back social time. To make the schools available to the greatest number of people, attendance is free. Each school is limited to the first 50 registrants. Riders who would like to attend must pre-register at www.imba.com or via phone at 07968 325291.
IMBA is a not-for-profit organization funded through member donations. Our work in the UK will only be possible through generous donations from riders like you. Attendees are highly encouraged to get involved, join IMBA and make a personal donation to the organization. Your contributions will help us to lower our costs and open more trails for mountain bikers in the UK.www.imba.org
