Women Get Their Own Clinic in N.Y. with "GIRL'S Day. . . It Rules"

02/26/2002
Rock Solid Events and sponsored by Bikeway Stores of New York are presenting a series of off-road bicycle clinics for women, kids, and families. The clinics are sanctioned by the National Off Road Bicycle Association (NORBA). The first clinic, GIRL'S Day ... It Rules, on May 11, is a clinic for women of all skill levels, ages 10 and up. In addition to meeting other women who ride and boosting their skill levels, women will enjoy a full day of off road bike fun and instruction by expert riders and instructors.

The clinics will be held at North Woods Farm in Ancram, N.Y. The program begins with discussions on bike set-up, maintenance, trailside emergency repair, women’s nutrition, strength training techniques, ride preparation, riding etiquette and local advocacy efforts. After lunch, we will have a skills building rodeo and group rides based on individual skills levels. In addition to the groomed trails at North Woods there are miles of beautiful trails across the street at the Taghkanic State Park for the more advanced riders.

One nice feature of the BIKEWAY Stores sponsorship is that the participants are invited to take their bike into the store for a 10-point check before the clinic. Expert mechanics will check over the brakes, gears, pedals, cables, lubrication and more.

As for the guys, some of whom are driving the women to the clinic and wondering what to do, we're inviting them to bring their own bikes take a long ride at the state park and try out the 2002 demo bikes provided by Cannondale. And then, join us after the clinic for a BBQ and Bonfire.
