Performance Recalls Bar Ends

10/04/2002
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Performance, Inc., of Chapel Hill, NC, is voluntarily recalling the Performance Forte Pro Stix bar ends. The bar ends may crack at their clamps when tightened. The resulting loose attachment can cause the rider to lose control of the bicycle, fall, and possibly suffer injuries. The crack may not be visible. Performance, Inc. has received two reports of bar ends failing and no injuries were reported.

These bar ends were only sold through Performance Stores, via Performances web site: www.performancebike.com and through Performance catalogs.

They were sold from April 2002 through to September 15, 2002.

Consumers should stop using the bar ends immediately and return them for replacement or refund. Return them to the nearest Performance Store or to:

Performance Inc.

Consumers can call Performance at (800) 553-8324 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or visit the company's website at www.performancebike.com.
