| 12/02/2002 | USA Cycling in conjunction with GaleForce Sports Marketing has finalized the dates and venues for the 2003 Chevy Trucks NORBA National Championship Mountain Bike Series.
Established venues in Vermont, West Virginia, and California will anchor the series, while Durango Mountain Resort will host the series finals. A new venue, Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho, will host the fourth stop.
"USA Cycling is very excited about the venues playing host to our Chevy Trucks NORBA National Series for 2003," said USA Cycling Director of Field Operations Eric Moore. "The geographic diversity of these sites is fantastic, because it showcases some of the best mountain biking terrain found in all regions of the country. We're particularly excited to see the NORBA series returning to the Northwest, with a new venue - Schweitzer Mountain Resort - as host. And wrapping up the season with Nationals in Durango is a great conclusion to the series, as Durango has established a strong tradition of hosting world-class mountain biking competitions."
“We have worked with the staff at Schweitzer Mountain Resort producing mountain bike races for a number of years, and the partnership with them will mean a phenomenal outcome for the athletes, spectators, sponsors, and media," said Wendy Zupan, assistant race director and co-owner of Round & Round Productions, which will handle the local promotion of the fourth race in the series.
“We are thrilled to have this event back in the Northwest, an area alive with mountain bike enthusiasts," said Gino Lisiecki, race director and co-owner of Round & Round Productions, a sport event management company based in Spokane, Wash., with a strong history of mountain bike promotions.
