24 Hours of Adrenalin in Winter Park on August 2-3
This coming weekend will see the fourth annual 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ mountain bike team relay event come to The Town of Winter Park, Colorado, the 8th stop in the 14-event North America-wide series. With the expo area located in downtown Winter Park, the popular event is also one of the most accessible to those interested in seeing what North America’s fastest growing cycling event is all about.

An inspiring part of the weekend event will be the 11:30am Saturday pre-race presentation of a $1,000 check on behalf of former Winter Park Mountain Manager, Jack Mason to IMBA Executive Director Tim Blumenthal. An integral part of the Winter Park facility and community, Jack lost his life in 2002 on the mountain that he "…practically created…" and in addition to his ski industry background is also remembered an avid mountain bike rider. Upon receipt of the check, Mr. Blumenthal will ride a lap on the challenging Winter Park course. All are invited to await the finish of the "IMBA lap" and celebrate the life of Jack Mason.

The entire Winter Park community is also invited to cheer on the teams of 2, 4, 5 and 10 riders as they go wheel to wheel with other age-category contestants in a race that starts with the 12pm Saturday Merrell LeMans running start and goes straight through to 12pm Sunday. Sanity is always a question as those lone wolves who choose to ride solo for 24 hours straight also compete against each other and for a chance to be invited to the World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ Championships, August 30/31 in Whistler, BC. Participants and spectators will be treated to the downtown expo area featuring sponsors such as Platypus Flexible Hydration Systems, Nightpro Lighting Systems, Louis Garneau clothing, Kenda Tires, Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles, and many more. Additional happenings include the Platypus 24 Minutes of Adrenalin™ kid’s event, late-night movies with free hot-buttered popcorn, a midnight corn roast and the relief of the carbohydrate reload post-race pasta party.

The weekend gets under way with the 9am opening if the expo area on Saturday July 19. For the most excitement and to feel the true flavour of a 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ event, spectators are recommended to be on-site for 11am in preparation for the 12pm Merrell LeMans running start. Based in Markham, Ontario Canada, 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ mountain bike events are held in a growing number of excellent locations in Canada and the United States and attract tens of thousands of participants and spectators alike. Participants are primarily known not as mountain bike racers, but as outdoor enthusiasts and weekend warriors who enjoy both the social aspect and the often fierce competitive environment that the 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ events provide. 2003 is the 10th anniversary of both the 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ and the world’s largest 24-hour mountain bike event held at Hardwood Hills, Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
