fantastic book     On: 2009-09-11

Fantastic book writing about all aspects of electric bikes. Technology oriented, which is something i mostly miss. I must say I am astonished this book is writen by an American, and not by someone who is living in a bike culture like Holland. Nevertheless Fantastic book, worth buying and reading on your bed.
Text book review...     On: 2009-05-23

This is a college text book that looks useful for students of mechanical engineering. There were a few pearls that I found useful. I bought it used for half price. There is nothing in it that I can criticize.
Electric bikes!     On: 2008-09-07

A really good overview of the various ways to power an electric bike. The author describes DC series motors (cheap, available, heavy) and the 3 phase AC motors (light, efficient, costly) as well as battery requirements. Obviously we would all like a bicycle that is light, efficient, and can be powered by muscle or electricity as required with no weight penalty: not gonna happen. Electric bikes are for efficient transportation to work, school, shopping. They will always be heavier and glonkier than traditional human powered bikes. but they may fill a niche for those of us who really depend on our bikes to get around.
