![]() Bell Sports #109459 Child Seat Carrier By: BELL SPORTS INC Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 27 More Information Decent Child Bike Seat at an Affordable Price Good quality product at a great price. Not as cushy as some others, but not as pricey either. We are very happy with this purchase. One note, the handle bar gets in the way when my husband rides, so we dont use it. Otherwise, no problems. Great for the price Great! and what a deal! I dont know why anyone would pay $100 or more for a seat like this. Works great and my kids love it! Biek riding is so much more fun with a baby on back. This seat was easy to install. It will bump your rear end a little bit while you ride, but I dont mind that. My child is still a shorty, so when his helmet hits the back of the seat it pushes the helmet a little over his face, but he can still see. Even though these things happen, the baby finds it calming, and we get more exercise. We all really enjoy this seat. The safety harnesses are sturdy and tighten easily. I feel very safe with my baby in this seat. Great Product! The carrier is great. My son is 14 mos, and he loves it. I put it on my mountain bike. The only bad thing is the center guard that protects the legs/feet from the tire wasnt long enough to install as instructed. So, I didnt put it on because my sons legs arent long enough to reach the tire area...yet. Ill make something @ that time. Anyway, for the price, this seat is and excellent purchase. Basic Child Bike Carrier We bought this carrier on a trial basis just to see if our 11 month old son would enjoy the ride behind my husband and he loves it. We didnt really want to spend top dollar on a nicer carrier until we determined if he would like it. For the amount of riding we do (which isnt much), this suits us just fine. This product is fairly easy to install on a mountain bike and having a 5 point harness is great too. Basic carrier that serves the basic purpose. Easy to install I recieved this seat this weekend. I was able to install it very quickly last night. I saw some people had some complaints about the holes not being drilled right etc, we had no problems with that at all. The leg guard is a little cheaply made and already tore, but duct tape rescued it. We didnt have time to take the little one for a ride yet but I am looking forward to trying it out tonite! Great seat at a great price so far! simple and lightweight My wife and I bought this seat for our 16 month old and are completely satisfied with it for the price. We went right out for a ride and it was very sturdy. I could hardly tell my son was with me. It was a cinch to put together if your the least bit mechanically inclined. I put some extra velcro stips behind the padding to keep it secured. The only piece I thought was really cheap was the plastic guard. When it eventually tears apart Ill invent my own version. simple and lightweight My wife and I bought this seat for our 16 month old and are completely satisfied with it for the price. We Love It !!! We recently purchased this so we can take our 2 year old on family bike rides. It fit on my husbands Mongoose mountian bike perfectly and my son LOVES it. It took about 1/2 hour to install and we could not be happier. We love it. Nothing to pay money for I am pretty disappointed with this seat all the way round. I have installed many things and assembled too many to count. This seat by FAR was the biggest pain in the bottom I have ever come across. Im sure its great for a bike that is spot on perfect to the one they built this for. Sway from that in the slightest and beware : / The padding is thin and offers little comfort. The height they list on the box is also misleading. My daughter qualified under the numbers but her feet could go past the safety cover they offer. It may be an extreme response but I hated this seat so much Im not even going to try another. Im going straight to a trailer. Hauling a RV would be less stressful to me than another seat like this . Be Careful w/ Behind the Seat Carriers I work at a Bicycle shop and have also spoken w/ pediatricians. Be careful when using any behind the bike carier. Make sure you practice w/ a doll or weights before you ut your child in any carrier that goes behind the seat. They are dangerous and offer no protection to your child if your bike goes down. Look into the trailers for behind your bike for max safety. Great for kids and parents! After having two kids and trying to get active again my husband and I came across this. We installed one on my husbands bike and another on mine. From the very first time we set the kids in there and took them for a ride it was great. they both ended up falling asleep while my husband and I got a bit of excercise and relaxation. However, my 3 year old is on the taller side and she could hit the tires with her feet. So, we had to stop using it. But, it was good while it lasted. don't be dismayed by the installation... The installation was a teensy bit difficult for about five minutes, but once you get the support beams tightened, its so easy.... I have to wonder about the people who are returning it b/c of the installation. We have a very complicated (high tech and expensive) bike and my husband installed this seat in less than 45 minutes. It fits perfectly, is very secure and my 1-yr-old LOVES riding in it!! don't be dismayed by the installation... Worked for me! by: Anonymous On: 2004-06-28 It wasnt the easiest to attach to the bike, but I was able to get it on without too much trouble. I have a quick adjust seat bracket and used that bolt instead of the one provided with the carrier. While everything didnt line up perfectly when assembling, once it was all tightened up it fit right. Went for our first ride today and my son had a blast. Liked it so much we bought two. We bought the carrier a year ago for our two year old and she loves going for rides! We found it easy to use and change between bikes so my husband and I can take turns riding with one child. We now have a one year old, so we bought another one for him. They are so affordable we didnt mind buying another and I feel safer having them right with me rather than trailing on the ground behind me. Great value! by: Anonymous On: 2004-06-19 I dont see what the trouble was...I put this seat on my bicycle and we were on the road within the hour! Its sturdy, lightweight and it did not affect my balance at all. I think its a great value, especially if you bought it from a competing store (...) I would definitely recommend it! Very Cheap I bought this and returned it the same day. It was so difficult to put together and the parts did not even fit correctly. It is a piece of junk. We returned it for a bike trailer and are much happier with it. My daughter, 18 months old, loves the trailer. It holds 2 children and has room for some books and stuffed animals. Also, if you fall, the trailer does not tip over. Your child could get hurt sitting in this cheap seat if you fell off the bike!! We Love It!! by: Anonymous On: 2004-05-05 I dont understand the problem everyone else had. I put mine together in just a hour. It went together just fine. We are ready to go outside again. My daughter loves sitting in it and riding around. We give this 2 thumbs up!!! You get what you pay for Unless your baby likes to have YOU sitting in his lap, I wouldnt purchase this seat. It looks good on the box and my family was pretty excited to get it on one of our new bikes and take our youngest boy (21 months) on his 1st ride. Well after over an hour of dealing with warped moulded pastic and brackets that are not-so-universal, I got the seat installed and put him in it. However, before I could ride with him I had to either sit in "his" lap for a change or sit on the skinny part of the bike seat which you can guess it not too comforable. This seat sits way too close to the rider to make it usuable by the average sized adult. Not that I have a large posterior, but its as if he was underneath me the whole two blocks we went around our neighborhood. This seat is going back today in exchange for one of those trailer things. VERY hard to put together I was so excited to get this seat!!! But when I got it home and started to put it together well... The seat support bracket thingys... was bent all to @#$%. But I WAS going to make this work. After fighting with this very poorly made product for about three hours...I got it!!! Well now that it IS put together my 16 month old son is in bed ,so we will see how much fun it is tommrow... I think with this product, (as with all) you get what you pay for. Returning seat today by: Anonymous On: 2003-09-15 We bought this seat for our 2 year old and are returning it to the store today. It was impossible to put together as it seemed the metal bars were not bent correctly and neither my husband, father-in-law or I could get the screws in. Were really disappointed, but will spend the extra money on a better product. Great buy! I purchased this with expectations it would not fit my Trek mountain bike, but it does!! yay! It was easy to put together and my daugher LOVES IT! Im so happy to find a great seat that we can both enjoy. Very hard to assemble, but a joy to use by: Anonymous On: 2002-11-06 I have to agree with the other reviews on how hard it is to assemble. The right and left support bars are not bent correctly. I had to use a wrench and pliers to force the bars to align enough to screw them together. The rest of the assembly was hard, too. But when it was all together, I put my 2 yr. old in the seat (with helmet), had my 5 yr. old get on his bike (with helmet), and (with my helmet on, too) away we went around the block. My 5 yr. old is so excited Mommy can ride a bike with him now, and my 2 yr. old loves the ride. The assembly is hard, but the joy it gives my children is worth it. The box the carrier came in states that the carrier will hold a child UP TO 40 LBS., which is why I bought this particular carrier in the first place. My child is 30 lbs. Therefore Ill be able to use this carrier for many months to come. What a waste!!! by: Anonymous On: 2002-08-01 I must admit, I was attracted to the item because of the price but you get what you pay for! The pieces which attach to the bike were not bent correctly and I am so disappointed! This company should be ashamed for putting together such a shoddy product. ... Classic Child Carrier As a grandmother I own one myself and my grandson loved it. He is older now. It gave him the freedom of being outside in the fresh air. He was also able to have the freedom of a bike ride, with the fresh air all around as we travled through the town. Poor workmanship The left and right supports that attach the child seat to the bicycle werent bent in the correct shape (one was, the other wasnt). This meant that the carrier could not be attached to the bike. We had to return ours to the store. Skeptical, but happy After reading the other reviews for this carrier we were skeptical, but bought it anyway. The assembly wasnt the easiest, but we did it. It worked fine on our bike and my 2 year old is very happy and comfortable riding in it. We havent had any problems. Complete Garbage The box says that this carrier works with "most" adult bicycles. What they ought to mention is that you should NOT bother buying the seat if you have a bicycle with a quick release seat because you wont be able to attach the carrier! The carrier requires a seat clamp (the permanent welded kind) and without it you cant attach the seat. Oh yeah, not to mention the quality is GARBAGE and as the previous reviewer stated, none of the holes line up for anything and its got shoddy worksmanship all over it. Don't waste your money or your time! by: Anonymous On: 2002-04-22 This carrier is impossible to put together AND have it fit on your bike at the same time. The supports are aligned by holes in the seat, so there isnt much room for adjustments. The bottom of the supports are supposed to go around the back fork of the bike, and top of the supports are supposed to use the same screw as the seat post. However, the holes at the top dont line up with each other correctly, and the holes at the bottom arent much better. We took ours back. |
