![]() White Lightning Clean Ride The Original Self-Cleaning Wax Bicycle Chain Lubricant, 8-Ounce Drip Squeeze Bottle By: White Lightning Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 7 More Information Smooth but heavy Does stay clean, and rides smoothly, but it feels like it creates more friction than oil based lubricants (used to use Tri-flo). Better than nothing Might be good for long term storage to prevent rust, but as a lubricant it is very poor. WD-40 and olive oil are better choices for actually riding. Chain waxes may be appropriate for motorcycles, but for human powered bicycles every watt is precious. This crap at least doubles drive line losses. Stays on chain Stays on chain where it belongs. Easy to apply. Much less mess than oil. Will find out in year or two if chain and sprockets last longer. Bad to the bone.!!! I bought my White Lightning from Husky bikes where I bought a 3 wheel industral trike and of course the chain had factroy lube already on the chain and the instructions on the White Lightning said it must be applyed to a clean chain! So I cleaned the chain and let it dry good and applyed the White Lightning and then started putting the trike togather and that was an all nighter because I was in no hurry to make any misstakes of scratching my doughters trike up! lol By the time I finished the White Lightning had dryed pretty well and later the next day we took the trike for a test run and I notice that none of the lube was slung off like most other lubes all over everything! My doughter used the trike every day running to the store for any exciouse she could think of because we loved riding our bikes and doing what ever we could to make our bikes look nice. After a week the lube was just as fresh and clean looking as when I put it on! I read reviews of people saing there is better lubes like TriFlo? Well thats pure (BS) Because I have used a lot of other lubes before tring White Lightning and they all drip and gets slung all over your frame, wheels and clothing. Clean your chain good and I mean good! and apply the White Lightning on nice and wet and then shake or pop the chain to sling off any excess lube and then let it dry good. Now you wont have to worry about oiling your chain every week or having to clean your bike off because of oil slung all over everything! But like others have said once its on it is on to stay and "I mean for a long time!" Wax Rules! WAX is FOREVER Its a great lube if you want your chain to stay dry, BUT it is best applied to a super-clean chain or else youll only be bonding dirt to your chain permanently. Meaning super hot water and even getting on your hands and knees with a toothbrush wont take this stuff off. Its pretty much permanent! Get another lubricant Most enthusiastic cyclists and bike shop clerks I talked to dislike this product. Ive used it a number of times myself and I would never use it again (especially after I discovered better products). It turns your chain and drive train into a black mess. Finish Line was better. TriFlow was recommended by a number of cyclists. Love it Several times I have looked at White Lightning in stores and never felt like going through the hassle of buying it and prepping my bike. I recently had a change of heart and picked up a bottle. After a thorough degreasing, I applied several coats of White Lightning and let it dry overnight. The next day the results were amazing. My bike was much quieter and shifting was much better. Ever since Ive been using White Lightning as my primary chain lubricant. |
