I ride a vintage Italian frame from the 80s. I decided to upgrade the classic Campy SR toe-clips and straps. The 7800s were easy to install - just make sure you have the right size wrench long enough so that you have better leverage with the install/uninstall. If you dont have this - check out pedal wrenches from Park Tools. 7800s are well made, fairly light weight and does not look out of place on a vintage road bike. Bought some cycling shoes with Look compatible cleats. Practised indoors on a trainer with the new 7800s. It is critical to adjust the pedals to a tension that allows the rider to disengage quickly. It took me couple of rides before I was completely comfortable with them. I like the float feature but if this is a problem just buy the fixed version of Look compatible cleats. Pedaling is very consistent and particularly effective on hills - whatever hills one may find in Phoenix - which is mostly flat terrain. I would never go back to the toe clips and straps. After the quick learning curve, the 7800s are very easy to step-in and step-out. I find them very comforable on 2-3 hour rides. Highly recommended.
