![]() Traveler 2 Saddle Panniers 2076 ci By: SunLite Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 2 More Information good price but be ready to put in extra work I bought these because they were really cheap (as far as panniers go). So I didnt set my expectations too high (and perhaps neither should you). Heres the deal: Perhaps the biggest concern is the mechanics by which they attach to the bike. Each pannier has two hooks mounted on the top which are meant to rest on the bike rack and (keep your fingers crossed) hold the thing in place. In addition to these two hooks there is a third one which is attached at the end of a bungee chord and is intended to keep the pannier taut by pulling it down. As far as mounting the pannier onto the bike rack, thats it. You are perhaps wondering whether this mechanism is too flimsy to hold the pannier in place. Unfortunately, it is. So if you purchase these panniers be prepared to think of a fix. I think the easiest solution is to securely tie the pannier handles to the bike rack. While this wont prevent the pannier hooks from slipping off occasionally, it will guarantee that when this does happen the pannier will remain attached to the rack. As for water resistance: I think the material itself is water resistant. However, the main compartment does not close with a zipper but with a drawstring. So if you dont close the flap cover well enough then water could get into the pannier. You could put your things in a plastic bag first, to get around this problem. But if youre cheap (like I am) and cant conceive of paying hundreds of dollars for quality panniers, then give these a shot. Good, but with limitations I use these for my commute to work each day, theyre pretty handy and hold a decent amount. I pack a change of clothes, different shoes, lunch, an ipod, and a few other miscellaneous things without even utilizing their full capacity. The are easy to mount to any luggage rack on a mountain bike, simply clip it on and you go. My one complaint is that if I hit rough pavement too fast they have come off as the only have clips that sit on the edge of the rack and an elastic cord to hook onto the sides by the wheels. Ive gotten around this by using plastic ties to ensure that if they come loose they wont detach from the bike. It would be nice if they fastened more securely, however. |
