Although I dont have experience with any other cyclocomputers, this model covers everything I desired. It was easy to set up, and the options are fantastic. Im not sure I could ask for more. Cycling through the readouts is a breeze and doesnt require great concentration while going down the road. Ive owned it for several hundred miles now and it has been flawless.

Device great Instructions Looser

The instructions; really are the only reason why I write this.

My gosh! they need to be re-written. The diagrams dont even match what is on the monitors display. 90 minutes from start to finish installing and setting up. I too do IT support and run and enter energy management programs for a hotel...

Worked for several months but now randomly moves to zero MPH

I used to really like this device, but lately it intermittently will go to zero MPH and thus my miles do not get recorded. For example, on a route I know is 22 miles it will only say 17 miles -- that is a lot of missing miles. When I watch the display it will be correct, but then suddenly go to zero MPH. Ill then be biking and fiddling with the device to wake it up and then it will start displaying real numbers again. I dont trust it and now must go spend the money and time finding / buying / setting up a new device. So, just be warned that although it initally is a good computer within a year it turned out to be worthless...

Set up a little tough - but WORKS GREAT!

I just boutght this item, and its true what everyone else says, the directions are definitely poor. There are literally no words just pictures. This is fine because I am typically a "visual" type of learner, but tough if you run into any problems. I was able to set it up, no problem but could not get the sensor to "communicate" with the magnet that is placed on the wheel. (The system works by sensing how many times a magnet that is placed on your tire spoke passes by the sensor, and multiples that by the circumference). So, I looked at the instructions, and got frustrated and called the service number on the instructions for the Customer Service Center in Colorado. At 3pm on a Friday they answered and they were immediately able to solve my problem. Here is a hint, when you set this up, make sure that the magnet on your wheel and the sensor are almost practically touching. The distance between them should be 2 to 3 MILIMETERS. Make sure you are aware of how small a distance that actually is. I was not and that is why it was not sensing. But all in all this is a fabulous product. Works GREAT. Tough setup, but works excellent.

Very Nice product that preforms as advertised. I used it on a mountain bike over rocky trails, mud and tree roots without problem. I would recommend this item. Very easy to read and work the buttons while riding.

The only complaint is the sensor is not strong enough and must be very close to the spoke to pick up a signal 1.5cm. If it varies or bounces around, then you loose the signal.

I agree the instructions suck balls. And the diagram "Menu Flow" is beyond cryptic.

That said, I managed the installation in under 30 minutes and was riding. I like how you can wipe out the days stats after your ride, yet keep your accumulated miles on the odometer. And the average/max speed is a neat feature. And I like the elapsed time feature, which only measures time when bike is actually in forward motion.

Nice gadget to trick out my Trek. Ill be interested to see how long unit performs before failure.

4 stars because it works as advertised, no fifth star on account of unnecessarily cryptic instruction sheet.

The monitor itself does everything it promess to do, however, the sensor is weekly mounted on the wheel, and if it by chance move a little bit due a radical stunt, or a rock, or somehting that hits the wheel... Your speed drops dramatically on the monitor... so you never know if its working properly, or if the sensor moved... Maybe, if you do something to make sure the sensor will not move -- its a great monitor.

Works Great

Ive only had the bicycle computer for a couple of weeks, but although the installation instructions are kind of vague, the computer works well. It mounts with double sided tape and cable ties, so it tends to move around instead of being clamped solidly to the handle bar.

The wife and I love to bike ride just about everywhere. We ride for both fun and exercise.

My wife has wanted a bike computer for a long time. I did some research and found the reviews of this unit favorable.

The unit seems small, but the display is easily readable and the backlighg works well.
The 2 main things that she wanted were a trip odometer as well as a stopwatch feature to help determine how long we have been riding.

The installation was easy,and I am not mechanically inclined. The only slight hiccup is navigating the menus for the initial setup. Other than that everything else was easy to get working. I recommend keeping the instruction sheet as you will need it to accurately setup the wheel size if you ever change bikes and it does not have the same wheel size.

Good device if you can figure out the instructions

This is a good bicycle computer if you can figure out the setup instructions. Mounting it was a snap, thanks to zip ties, but the instructions are the worse Ive seen for any product. One sheet of paper has "instructions" in six languages written in a tiny-tiny paper saving font. Most of the text is devoted to warnings and features (the assumption must be that the bike shop set it up for you) and the critical section, the setup, is only six sentences long. I was lost after the first sentence: "If the MENU button is pressed with the measuring screen displayed, the menu screen appears." What is the "measuring screen"?

Changing the settings between mph and kph is tricky. The crux move is that the "all clear" button must be pressed to clear all settings.

I hope that Cateye gets enough complaints about the instructions for this product that they rewrite them and TEST THEM WITH REAL PEOPLE. I am a computer programmer and I could barely figure them out.

Easy to use, comes with everything you need

first thing, it comes with all the zip ties you would need to mount it. also comes with all the mounting hardware you need.
2 sets of data, so if you accidentally reset one of them, you still have another set, or if youre comparing 2 sessions of record.

Initial review

Cateye delivered as promised with Super-Saver shipping. Product in-tact with no concerns.

Instructions may be a bit confusing for some, but pretty straight forward. Cant figure out for the life of me why 5mm is the max. distance between sensor magnet and sensor zone. For my Trek 4500 this seems too close for comfort while riding the trails. Ill be watching closely during my first ride to see if this thing slips from position. With zip ties I dont think the computer or fork sensor will fall off yet the spoke magnet.... well see.

I bought this Cateye because of so many positive reviews. With so many positive comments, I dont feel this will be a waste of my heart earned cash.

Easy to install, works great

I bought two and they both work perfectly. I just used the included tie straps to put the sensor on the front works and then attached the receiver to the handlebars, set the diameter of the wheel (just the number on the rim) and everything just worked. Very cool.

OK for the first year.... then forget it

I bought this 2 years ago. Getting it to work right was a little difficult, but I eventually succeeded. What worked for me was to put the transmitter on the front part of the fork, not the rear. For some reason, I got no signal at all if the transmitter was mounted to the rear of the fork, but it worked fine in front. It seemed finicky to me, but at least I got it to work.

This spring, I replaced all the batteries - in the transmitter and the head unit. Then I went on a ride. It worked fine for 20 minutes, then the display went to 0.0 mph. Then it came on. Then it went off. I replaced the batteries again (checked them with a voltmeter first to make sure they were good) and same thing. Very erratic. I contacted Cateye Tech support (email only these days - even the phone # tells you to email them) and got no response. Twice.

Id like a little more reliable unit. And with no Tech Support to speak of, I cant recommend any Cateye products.

Great with two minor complaints

This is my third cycle computer, and theres quite a bit I like about it; first, it looks cool and is relatively compact. It has every feature I would want, and so far doesnt seem to interfere with my chest-mounted heart rate monitor. This is easily the best fork-mounted wireless sensor available (compared to Sigma and Blackburn), as its small and solid. Its relatively easy to use, the backlight feature is helpful at dusk.

Now the complaints: The instructions are the worst I have ever seen on any product I have ever purchased. Cateye should be ashamed of themselves, and if you decided not to purchase this for this reason alone, I wouldnt blame you. also, the plastic tie system for adhering the computer to the stem or handlebars is cheap, and doesnt cinch tightly.

This bicycle computer is the best on I have ever purchased, and the most accurate. The instructions are easy to understand and installation was quick and effortless.
When I first installed this computer the speedometer readings were so different from my last speedometer, I tested its accuracy against my friends Prius. Turns out, this is the most accurate by far!!

This is a fine product

This product is pretty good for the price. I use it as a secondary unit to track the time and miles I put on my trainer. It has worked fine so far. You need to keep in mind that the rage of the unit is limited. you cannot mount the device on the handle bars and the sensor to the back wheel. That distance is too large for it to sense. I placed the unit between the handle bars and the seat. It works fine there. I usually take it off when I go out to ride. It has a lot of functions too, which I ofcourse do not use.

This thing is great. Wish I had one when I was a kid. We had the old school speedometers back then. Now the computers supply all the data about your ride you could want. easy to install, simple to program. You will not be disapointed.

Cateye CC-MC100W - 5 Stars!

The MC100W is the first bicycle computer that Ive ever used and so far Im very happy with it. The instructions are NOT that difficult to understand as some earlier reviews suggest. Im basically an idiot and I had it set up, installed, and tested within a half hour. Its fairly accurate, easy to read/see, and the backlight works fine. I have it strapped to a Specialized Rockhopper that I use for daily street rides and some light XC on the weekends. The Cateye CC-MC100W is a good product at a fair price.

I love this bike computer. Read some reviews about how difficult it is to set up, and yes the instructions can be at times overbearing, but I slowed myself down, used common sense here and there, and in the end didnt have problems beyond the initial mounting of the units (at first couldnt figure out the exact placement of the transmitter unit). The computer settings were actually very easy to do, its all about the tire size.

I have been using it for 117 miles now and personally love it! The speed seems to be very accurate, and did an odometer check the first commute into work by comparing it to Google map calculation (which would be using a pre-determined auto route), and it was spot on (were talking off by .2 miles and this most likely is due to the bike route being a bit different)! It wont get you into YouTube, figure out your taxes, or send email for you, but for the cost its a wonderful little bike computer.

Good all-around product

Great device. Does the job. Very small. Accurate readings so far. Easy to install. Directions were a little confusing but nothing seriously challenging. The lack of a standard mounting bracket actually is a plus, otherwise it would not fit around my oversized handle bars and front fork. Also, if the ties do eventually break off, those are like 2 cents each, thats a plus in my book.

This is really a great computer! I had my bike stolen a few months ago and recently got a new one and needed a new computer as well. After looking around a lot I decided to go with the Micro again cuz its really easy to use and has all the functions I want and you cant beat the price for a wireless computer. I do have to agree with a lot of others though about the installation and the difficulty of the directions. But I gave it 5 stars anyway because once you do get it installed it works great!

I bought this bike computer as a christmas gift for my girlfriend but it turned out that her parents had also bought her one and she had opened that one first. I wrote to the retailer, USBIKEBARGAINS, through Amazon and asked if I could return it. I said I would be happy for store credit and would just buy some other bike equipment. However, the company never even replied. They didnt acknoledge my email and they cant be found on-line. I wouldnt suggest buying this, not because of the product but because the retailer is either really badly run or not really a company.

Great Unit - Instructions Lacking

This is a great bicyle computer with top featers and backlighting. It is the main reason I purchased the unit...the button on back is pressed and the display is momentarily illuminated. Another great feature is a choice of mounting options shiped with the unit. It may be mounted on the handlebars in the traditional way, or, mounted on the handlebar stem. The latter keeps your handlebars free of clutter.

Great product, directions for operation a little confusing but once you get the hang of it its great. I like the wireless feature, much better than wires lining your bike frame. I recommend mounting on the rear wheel fork and rear wheel. This will allow easy transport and taking off and putting on the front wheel.

Yes, the instructions are muddled. However, setup and installation was a piece of cake. The only thing that I think should be different is having the "Start/Stop" button switched with the "Mode" button, because it seems counterintuitive, but thats just personal preference. If I had to, Id buy it again. It sits on my bike and does its job. Its worth the money to know your speeds, times and distance.

Nothing Good to Say

Right now this product is sitting in an open box on my desk. When I installed it on my Mongoose it turned out that the sensor and the magnet were too far apart to get a reading. Nothing stated that it would not work with a Mongoose bike. The only way I could find this out was to open it and install it. When I tried to return it to the retailer, Niagra Cycle Works, they refused return because it was opened. I would appreciate it if any one can tell me how I would know it didnt work unless I opened it, I would love to hear it. I have contested the charge on my credit card and will see what happens. I will probably lose but at least others will see this and hopefully cost Niagra Cycle Works more then the stinking $40 it cost me.

However the instructions are a real pain in the neck to decipher because theyre made up of 99% pictures. It took me awhile to get this thing programmed properly. With better instructions it would rate a 5.

CCW-M100 Review

So many reviews - while yes the instructions are not great, because they do it 14 languages all on something the size of a fold out city map, you will be referencing the pictures anyway which are self-explanatory. There is an "A" or "B" setting, so you could move it to different bikes with different setups / tire sizes (bike A, bike B), not exactly useful for just one bike, but its not an issue. My only maybe semi-gripe is I had to angle / move in the wireless sensor to the wheel pretty close to the sensor, so if you want to take the front tire off, you have to re-angle the sensor first. Its also on a new mountain bike I have not run through water yet but the battery compartments are nice and tight so I dont foresee any issues. I also find my myself looking at it all the time too.. heh - a good distraction for those long rides and it only makes you want to go further and push harder so I cant complain about that.

Great Tool for your bike

LCD Failed after 6 months

I guess you probably know by now that the instruction manual sucks. Im typically not much of an instruction manual guy. Id rather figure it out by pressing the buttons, but theres no way a human could figure out how to program it (e.g. setting your tire size, clock etc.) without resorting to the manual. So if you do buy this product, you may wish to tape the manual to the inside of your helmet. Then, as has been stated in many other reviews, get your Manualeese to English dictionary ready.

Installation was not difficult, except that once you choose a location, youre stuck with the results. Unless you can find some long skinny zip-ties, once mounted theres no going back without cutting the ties that came with it. Replacements are not easy to find as the zip-ties are an unusual size (long for their gauge). I made the mistake of mounting it to the handlebar stem instead of the handlebar itself (you can mount it either way). Having it on the handlebar itself allows you to rotate it slightly to get better contrast from the screen.

The unit was working fine for about 6 months or 100 miles (whichever came first?). After a few weekend rides the tire size indicator (A) started flashing. I just ignored it. Apparently this is the Manualese signal that your battery is about to die. Once fully dead I replaced the battery and all seemed fine. I dug up the manual and figured out how to set the clock and tire size (and learned why it was flashing in the first place) and input a guesstimated ODO setting. Unfortunately you have to remember your ODO setting as it forgets when the battery is removed (how much extra would it have cost them to throw in a couple bytes of NVRAM for the ODO?). So how many miles it actually survived I can not say because by the time I had a replacement battery the old one was totally dead and I could no longer read it. It had around 100 miles on it

Next week I take the bike out and the LCD display looks very dim, but all the functions seem fine - you just have to look at the LCD from a strange angle. I dug up the manual to look for an LCD contrast setting, but it does not exist. So I figure the replacement battery might have been defective. I go out and by another CR2023, replace it, and no luck, the screen is still very dull and hard to read.

So all in all Id say this unit performs well when it works (maybe I just got a lemon). But they could really use some improvements in the user interface/manual.

Easy Installation and Great Features

Many have complained that the instructions for the Cateye Micro Wireless arent good. This may be true. However, the installation is so easy that it seems like complaining about a milk bottle not telling the user how to pour it. Granted, if youve never installed a cycle computer, this may be an over-simplification of the situation. However, for the most part, the diagrams show you what you need to do.

As far as the performance of the unit, I have logged over one hundred miles in the last few weeks and it has performed flawlessly.

Its small, VERY LEGIBLE, and appears to be accurate. I highly recommend it and hope that you all will be as pleased as I am.

Easy to install

Initial Pain to Setup

I read the reviews and saw the complaints about the instructions but told myself, how bad can they be? Well, I wouldnt call them instructions at all. My biggest problem was setting up the sensor and the magnet. The pictures were were not any better. Its finally working I think and hope the pain is over from this point. A friend of mine got one by Sigma and he was happy with it.

This is a very good product. I have used this model for 1 yr and have had no problems. One minor glitch. When carried or stored near a radio or cell phone, it will pick up a lot of false and whacky readings (top speed of 86mph). Had a good laugh about that.

Difficult to operate

This is a reliable, nice, bike computer BUT the instructions are incomprehensible. CatEye should be ashamed as they have made bike computers for like 20 yrs.

Their website is sleazy as well as I gave a fair review of the product and they then removed my review from their site after one week.

I looked at many computers before selecting this one. My neighbor recommended it over the computers he currently has on his bikes. He plans on getting two new Cateye computers soon. Installation was very easy, and I havent had any problems at all. It is very accurate. For the price, I really dont think you can find a better computer. I highly recommend it.

Nice features for the price.

Installation and usage was a snap. I really like the size, position and read-out. My complaint is the timer/counter keeps stopping during my rides. I am not hitting the stop button or any buttons, yet it always halts during my last 3 rides. It may be from hitting bumps in the road, not sure. I am frustrated by this problem and hope I can solve the issue soon.

great computer, lousy mount

First off, this thing works great. It was easy to install, a snap to get going, and it does everything advertised.

The problem is that Cateye has paired this great computer with a really poorly designed clip that attaches to your bikes handlebar. After only a week of riding with it, the little tab that releases the computer body broke off. It is a small tab that is connected to the rest of the holder with only 2 tiny slivers of plastic. After a ride I punched it down and it popped off. The result is that the next time I went riding the computer flew off somewhere out there. Fix the holder and it would be great.

The computer works good at keeping tract of your speed and distance. The amount of time it took to get it was very short. I think that the owners manule could be a little more straight forword, and the instructions on how to navigate through the different settings should be more clearer to read. Other than that, the product is well worth the money.

I use this at least 4 times a week. I really use the MAX speed a lot and have gotten my folding bike up to 42.1mph. The interface is a little confusing at first but once you get used to it, its not so bad. I will probably buy another for my fiance and recommend this to anyone looking for a computer.

Of the many choices you have for a bicycle computer, give serious consideration to this model. It was a snap to install, is accurate, and provides all the basic information youll want. The wireless feature is pretty cool, too, making the install very clean. The price is tough to beat, so unless you want cadence or heart rate functions, give this unit a look. I think youll be happy you did.

I NO LONGER like it

Over all Im happy with the device. Its small, but the LCD takes up most of the face, so its easy to read. For a first time bike computer owner like myself, I found the button combinations to be a bit esoteric, but the learning curve isnt that bad. The directions tell you to get the spoke sensor very close to the magnate. I failed to get it close enough, and wasted some time figuring out why it wasnt working. Dont make that mistake and get the spoke sensor very close and youll save yourself some time.

The directions leave something to be desired, but I found an updated copy on the website that was slightly better than the copy that was in the box. If you decide to purchase this, you might want to download it now and read it so you know how it works before it arrives.

After using this for several months it started having trouble getting a signal from the sensor on the spoke. Sometime moving the device on the handlebars helps. I replaced both batteries and verified Im with in distances specified in the manual, but it still randomly stops displaying the speed. Im feed up with it and will be replacing it a wired device. Great Computer

A lot of features packed into a slim package. Good visibility even in sunlight. Good mounting bracket/options. Fast installation. Fairly easy set up, just have the instructions with you. Only downside is the tiny buttons on the back. The one is the set up button that you only use when you initially set it up. But the other is the backlight. I ride a lot at night and it is a little difficult to acces. Especially with my headlight mounted next to it.

Many shortfalls

This is a nice looking computer and it does what it needs to do, but the lack of an ability to take the mount on and off the bars (uses zip ties) is a pain. The battery also wore out a lot sooner than I expected and when I replaced it I lost all of my miles! The buttons are a little sticky too - they dont change the functions as easily as they should, especially when Im wearing full gloves.

I realize this review may be unfair because I havent gotten this thing to work. Apparently everyone else loves this thing, but I dont. I agree with the other reviewer about the instructions; there absolutley horrible. Probably about the worst Ive seen. Mounting it was pretty easy, despite the instructions, which seem to have been "written" by someone who hates people. Really, would complete sentances have been that hard? Anyway, once mounted, Ive had a GREAT deal of difficulty getting the thing set up and even getting it from km/hour to mph. Mine may be defective as I followed the "instructions" (I use the word loosely here). I did get some of the other settings set. Also, this thing locked into the mount and I cant get it out. It seems cheap to me (and yea, I realize the cost was cheap and I guess you get what you pay for). Anyway, Im going to throw this thing away (too hard to return and not worth the trouble) and buy something a little bit higher quality. I may come back and edit this review if I ever get this piece of ____ to work. Sorry if this review was unfair in any way but I really dont like this product...
UPDATE: well my friend who is a serious cyclist helped me get this set up (he even had a little trouble) and it works great. ive had no problems with it. i still hate the instructions and the set up. it could be that i was just a little crankier than usual when i was dealing with it though...

Great product after you learn to use it

This is a great multi-function device and it is wireless which is an upgrade over my previous model. Also, the price is very reasonable. What prevents me from giving a top rating is that is it difficult to learn to use. If they improved the user guide, I would give it 5 *.

Good Deal Great Cyclocomputer

I bought this product about 3 months ago. I love it. It works perfectly I have no problem with interference with the wireless signal. It accurtly measures time speed and distance. I have no complants about this product I recomend it to anyone.

Pleased, and would buy it again

This is the first bicycle computer Ive purchased but CAT EYE provides a rosetta stone of guidance in no fewer then twelve languages and with their instructions I installed my computer in just a few minutes.

I use my bicycle daily to commute several miles to and from work as well as for recreation on the weekends and after several hundred miles my computer is still performing flawlessly.

My only complaint is that some careful button pressing technique is required to reset daily trip time and distance. Two buttons must be held for the reset but part of the same button sequence changes modes between bicycle one and bicycle two.

For the price I would happily order another computer for a second bike and forego this feature in favor of more intuitive display of ride-leg information or perhaps even an additional button to simplify reset.

The best designs promote intuitive operation but Im happy with the product and with practice Ill master the technique.

Dead batteries, poor instructions

I have no big problem with the computer itself, but it arrived with one of the two batteries dead and the other close to death. My other complaint is with the instructions. Im a fairly intelligent person, yet I struggled with the diagram before I figured out the start-up programming. Is it too much to ask that we get instructions with at least a few complete sentences?

I have two "Wired" CatEye mirrors and they are great. The wirless one is even better. I had another brand that you couldnt read in bright sunshine, but the CatEye "wireless" can be read in any light (Yes, it even has a back-light for night).

The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the operating/set-up instructions are poor.

Good, but...

I recently purchased this cyclocomputer and two additional mounting kits to enable me to track my cumulative annual mileage between all my bikes. The unit itself is nice enough, the wireless feature makes for a clean and simple installation, and setup is fairly intuitive. However, two things keep me from giving this thing the highest possible marks; the button on the end of the unit that is used for resetting the elapsed time/trip distance is difficult to use, and the release lever on the mount is virtually non-functional. Ive already broken one and am using a piece of tape for now to secure the unit in place. All in all, a decent product for the money.

Very Nice-wireless

I have just intalled the CC-MC100W a few weeks and its look good. I change my old TREK Radar wired, that was just detroyed in a race afte 4 years of heavy mountain riding.
I installed the cateye in a mountain bike (Cannondale F700) and I dont know if the cyclocomputer would resist a heavy trip (with mud and water), due to there are some buttons in the back of the case, facing the ground or if the wireless sender will function properly with mud on it....

Bicycle odometer/speedometer

Excellent product. Allows for a large assortment of bike riding information (speed, distance, average speed/distance, logging, time, back-lit, more). Small size allows for placement just about anywhere on handlebar.

Just what you expect. Wireless is the way to go. I forgot to plug it in on the 2nd leg of a ride recently and it still kept perfect track of my trip from inside my front pocket! Very good!

I was Not impressed with the directions on installing it.
They assumed a little too much!
But it works well. The way it attaches to the front spoke doesnt seem like its strong enough for rough riding, but I havent had a problem in the 100 or so miles Ive put on it yet So?
I frequently remove the front wheel to take my bike with me in the car and it doesnt interfere with this, which I like.
Bottom line Id buy it again!!!

Cateye Micro Wireless CC-MC100W

I have a foldable bike so wireless becomes more important with less chance of breaking wires. This Cateye seems to work very nicely. The mountings are simple and dont require excessive space. Setup was easy. Operation is a no brainer. The only fault I could mention is the backlight function. Its not nearly bright enough to accomplish the goal it was designed for which was one of the main reasons for selecting this odometer.

Super Duper Bike Computer

Instructions for installation, however, according to My Husband The Installer, were not so user friendly. They are written in teency type in a bunch of different languages with diagrams that are not very helpful, but, hey, nothing is PERFECT ......

Catey Micro Wireless

I bought two units. One for my bike and one for my daughters.
Installation couldnt have been easier. Ten minutes per bike and I was done.
After installation, all you have to do is input tire size and width and youre ready to go.
A good test to see how accurate these units are was taking a ride with my daughter being that we have two different size bikes. Ater reaching our destination, both units read exactly the same mileage. The unit is very unobtrusive on the handlebar and very easy to read. I wont go into all the features (you can read that in the item description), but I believe it has all Ill ever need.
We are both very happy with this product.

I have had the cateye for about 4.5 months now. I love it, it is very accurate, easy to install, and always gives you a real time read out. It has gone through many bumbs, creeks, jumps, and numerous falls, and have not had to adjust it or anything. It has stood up to every requirement I ask of it. You will love this product.

Great Computer

I love this & am planning on getting another one for my husbands bike soon. I really like that it tells me how fast Im going during my bike ride, as well as what my average speed has beend during the entire time. It also tracks trip distance & total trip distance, as well as time. There are different memory settings that you can use to track all of this information. The only thing I would like better is a more secure form of fastening it to the handlebars. Every once in a while during a bike ride it will slide upside down on the bar. (It comes with cable ties to fasten it to the handlebars.)

Great Computer - Instructions Horrible

I have to agree with the others here. This computer is great once you can figure out the directions for setting it up. The instructions are not very easy to understand as there is no step-by-step for setting up the computer. Other than that, it works flawlessly. Word to the wise - use the zip ties, but add some tape as the computer as well as the magnet mount tends to slide with the zip ties. Good for calculating your time, distance and speed.

Excellent Product

This is a great help when working out with the bicycle. I can tell how far I have gone and in what time I make the trip. This helps to decide what kind of work out I would like to do and how fast to do it based on my physical condition on that day. You see I am 56 years young and really am not able to push as hard as most people would on a bicycle. So I have to be careful since my heart attack.

Great Product / No Problem with Mounting

I agree with all other positive reviews here but want to address another reviewers issue with the mounting system. If the Zip Ties (and computer) are slipping/sliding around on your handlebars, an easy solution is to wrap some electricians tape or a small piece of inner tube around the handlebar before mounting the computer and tightening up the Zip Ties. This is a sure fix....Ride On!

More features than I will ever use ...

Installation was more user friendly and more simple than with wired units from Trek whose instructions seem to be all in Chinese. The unit works well on my mountain bike and keeps me informed through an intuitive interface. Their are more functions on the unit than I will ever use. Kind of speaks to the need for a co-pilot to keep one abreast of all the information the little unit makes available. The price was right. I am satisfied so far.

Came quickly

Came very quickly. The only problem I had was there was a discrepancy on shipping charges. One place said shipping was $2, another said $4.50 I think. I emailed the vendor, and got no response. The vendor was in the middle of a warehouse move, so I guess I can be forgiving. Product is great. Once I got the logic of going thru the menus, it was a ten minute install at the most. Now I see that I ride very very fast.

Really nice but..

If you also have the Nightrider Flight HID lighting system, this does not work because of radio frequency interference between these powerful lighting systems & a wireless computer.

This probably happens with all of these HID light systems (Nightrider, Light & Motion, etc). See their webpages for details (the webpage will tell you the above).

The lighting system shuts off the computer. Moving the computer away from the light works, but then I cannot see the computer as its pretty far away from the handlebars, mounted on the bike.

I had to get a wired computer, which solved the problem.

wish I had gotten it sooner

First off, I am a casual biker so I didnt know if I "needed" this or not. Now that I have it, I really dig it!
Mounting the whole thing took me about 20 minutes--15 to read the pictograph directions and 5 to actually put it on. But that is because I am a little cautious and really wanted to do it right the first time. It actually was quite easy because the installation diagram is very detailed, showing exactly which direction the pieces go, in what order, etc. The computer mounts on the handlebar with double-sided tape and cable ties, keeping it plenty tight and secure. The sending device attaches to the fork the same way and is very ingenious the way it reads off the magnet you attach to the spoke.
A little bit harder was programming it the first time, following the menu flow digrams. But after a few minutes it was very intuitive and I got it set up (with mph, wheel size, etc.) and was ready to take it for a test spin. Which is where its greatness was immediately apparent. I followed a route I knew and the odometer was spot on. The elapsed time pauses when you do, the average and max speeds worked great. In fact, this thing is amazing!
So, bottom line, even if you dont think you need one, youll soon wonder how you got along without it. Well built, high quality, instructions in about 20 languages, fun to use, and practical. Cant beat it.

compact and full featured

the two things you need in a good cyclometer is that it is small and lightweight, but has all the features you need. This one fills both creteria nicely. The unit is small, but is incredibly easy to read and navigate. and, if you are like me, the last cyclometer you owned consisted of a wire running down your fork -- forget it, this one is wireless. It does the job perfectly, at a great price.

Reliable and durable

I purchased this speedometer a month ago and I am very pleased with it. I have biked over 200 miles and each ride it holds true to its readings with prior rides, very consistent. Highly recommended!

Poor mounting system

The Cateye MC100W is a very nice computer, but suffers from a poor mounting system. The mounting bracket is attached to the handlebar with two tie wraps. There is no way to tighten it enough to keep the computer stable. As a result pushing a button ofter requires two hands, one to hold the computer and the other to push the button.

The Micro Wireless is one of the newest additions to the Cay Eye Companies long line of trusted cyclocomputers. I had a hard time choosing between this and a more expensive model with heart rate and cadence.

I decided to go with this and purchased a separate wrist HR monitor for around 25 bucks. It saved a good deal of money and could be the solution to one of your concerns.

If you are looking for a basic model without wireless: I suggest checking out the "Enduro 8"; it is cheaper and has most of the basic features (without wireless and backlight).

With that said: I really like this model, its smaller and has more features than the Enduro; wireless and back-light. It was easier to setup and quickly switches between bikes (with the purchase of a second mount/sensor kit.)

I broke the computer mount in a minor training collision and Cay Eye sent me a replacement mount for free. I suggest you "defiantly get a cat eye", especially at this price; they have great customer service and make an excellent wireless computer.
(I have used this product for six months.)
