If you want a stand to adjust the rear gears and some basic maintenance then this is all you need. I received mine last week and I am not disappointed. On: 2008-06-16
Just what I needed to work on my bike by myself. Lets me get the rear heel off the ground, so I can work on the gearing. This was one of the most affordable stand and does what I need. It is also amazingly stable due to its design. Highly recommended for anyone not willing to shell out big bucks for professional stands. On: 2007-06-08
I really didnt expect much out of this stand with its super low price compared to even the next cheapest small race stands, and it doesnt look like much in the photo, but Ive been quite surprised and impressed. Its far more stable than it looks like it will be in the photo. Its good for basic maintenance if you dont do enough to warrant an expensive real repair stand, and its good for just standing the bike up for storage without a kickstand as well. So far, Ive used it while cleaning and lubricating my chain, adjusting gears, adjusting brakes and changing pads, changing out pedals, and even truing the rear wheel, and its been much better than hanging my bike by the seat post from a tree branch like I used to do. It does lose stability somewhat if you arent paying attention and move the bike forward or back and the stand begins to turn. Of course, if you go too far, it will eventually overturn. It helps to use a bungee cord to hold your front wheel stationary. This slight stability problem (although far smaller a problem than expected) is part of the lacking star. The other part of that is that theres no feet on the little metal arms on the bottom to protect the floor surface, and theres even semi-sharp corners where they attach to the upright portion of the stand. This isnt really a problem outside or in the garage/shop, but it requires some protection put down if youre working in your house. Overall, a great value, and an indispensable tool.
