![]() Inline MTB Toe Clips & Nylon Toe Straps Medium 1 Pair Black By: Inline Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 2 More Information What a quad workout! Ive been modifying my old Trek 800 mountain bike to make it faster. In addition to adding drop-bar bar-ends, and 26 x 1.25 smooth tires, I decided on toe clips. Ive never used them, and was reluctant because I thought Id feel trapped. Well, unless you want to go clipless, complete with shoes, these toe clips are indispensable. Without a doubt, I am faster with them. They make the quads work much more by forcing more weight onto the forefoot. They allow for a quad/hip flexor upward pull. You can try to add a hamstring pull to complete the rotation, but the effect I found to be minimal. Overall, I am pleased with the purchased. A few notes: 1. Make sure you have the proper pedals to accommodate these. My original pedals were somewhat oblong and slanted in shape so I had to get new ones. You need pedals that are flat, as in, the front part of the pedal where it normally has a reflector, needs to be flat, not slanted, to fit. 2. The clips dont come with instructions. I spent quite some time on various websites, including YouTube, trying to figure out the proper way to buckle the straps. I finally figured it out. When properly installed, with feet in clips and pedals, you should be able to pull UP on the strap to tighten. You should then be able to, using only your index finger, push DOWN on the buckle to loosen it. 3. They take getting used to, especially if your route has many stops. Youll need to forecast your stops and loosen ahead of time. (Once I was caught with them tight during a stop and almost fell over! My fault, not theirs.) 4. Watch how tight you cinch the strap. One of my feet became numb after about 10 miles until I started to go easier on the cinch. 5. I purchased a size medium. I wear a 9.5 wide shoe and ride with either normal cross-trainers or trail shoes. Size seems good. 6. Be careful if youre caught with the pedal upside down, as in, with the clips/straps facing the street. They might scrape against the ground. 7. HAVE FUN! Exactly what I wanted Great price for a great product. Very easy to install, seems very good quality. Very happy with the purchase. |
