My first bike any value was an imported (handmade bicycle). Pretty much standard issue was a brooks saddle (antique brown: leather, of course!).
The bicycle and saddle have been with me for thirty years and the ride just gets better and better, because my brooks saddle has gotten better and better.
When I purchased my Trek portland I just couldnt find a saddle which provided the ride or beauty of my old brooks saddle. After finally settling on the brooks swift saddle (antique brown, surprise, )it seems that I picked up where I left off.
Buy the brooks kit for saddle maintenance (It will help the saddle conform to your unique anatomy) and you will never be disappointed. I do about 50 miles a ride and I am as comfortable as ever. No it is not the lightest saddle but it does get attention, and will not disappoint.
