Stainless Steel Tea Tumbler with Infuser By: Thermos Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 9 More Information Awesome for the loose tea lover I was first drawn to this product when I found out that it has a special loose tea compartment, which was exactly what I was looking for. The basket holes are a little wide, so fine pieces from herbal teas will fall through, but overall it does the job. As for coffee: it makes two cups from my french press, pours into a starbucks "tall" and leaves room for milk. So for coffee or tea, this little thermos is perfect to take anywhere. Ive had no leaks or spills. Great piece of gear Ive taken this coffee mug around the world, into Iraq and back and it is durable, reliable and works as advertised keeping coffee hot with no leaks in your backpack or travel bag for hours. Just the right size Good day - -- Ive been looking for a small insulated coffee cup for quite some time. This thing is perfect for my uses - and you can do tea in it too! -- Comes with both caps a cap with the tea strainer, and a cap for drinking (small hole) - plus a lid to keep either from spilling. (Perfect for free coffee at the Veterans Hospital.) -- Pay attention to the way color is chosen on your order - I mistakenly ordered the wrong color. -- Seems to be a great item if a little on the expensive side (costs the same to manufacture as would a larger, similar item). AWESOME! This mug is amazing. It keeps my drink hot through just about the whole work day. Its also a very convenient way to make tea with the interchangeable infuser and sipping lids (and they are very easy to clean). Thinner teas (like Rooibos)seep through a little bit, but its definitely a great mug. I bought my first one through Teavana for a bit more and my boss had to have one, so this is actually the second one weve purchased. Its a must have for any tea lover! Tea bags welcome It works well for tea bags or tea leaves. Whats nice is that you can put boiling water into it and the temperature on the outside of the tumbler barely elevates in temperature. If you are on the go, and you are a tea drinker, just boil your water throw in a bag (dont need the infuser) or leaves (needs the infuser) and youre ready to go. It has 2 different lids: one w/ the infuser and one w/o (like a typical coffee lid) and then a cap (fits on both inserts) to seal in the heat. And in case you were wondering, it can be used equally well for coffee. Plastic Just FYI, the lid, the strainer edge, and the sippy cup adaptor are made of plastic. Not a big deal for many of you, but I avoid plastics. I wish the picture had shown the sippy cup. I might keep it, remove the strainer and drink out of the stainless steel side without the plastic, though. Just wanted to provide that info for people who (wisely) avoid plastics. Leakproof and hot, really hot. I bought the "Liquid Solutions Tea-zer Tea Brewing Tumbler with Infuser Basket" in one of my trips and I was really in love with it. But I couldnt really rely on the "leakproof" feature. A while after, it would leak for real and I had do give up using it. Then I found this Thermos Nissan! WOW!!! It is really leakproof. I just close and throw it inside my backpack, not caring the position I put it. In fact, my only complain is that it keeps my tea too hot for too long. But, well, this shouldnt be a problem, right? So, Im not complaining. If you are worried about the tea leaves and what to do with them after brewing your tea, just put the leaves inside the mug, before the infuser. This way, you can drink your tea and the leaves will stay there until you can throw it away. Just two warnings. Dont be fooled. It does get a little hot outside (I mean, you wont get burned, of course, but it will melt your chocolate, if there is one inside your backpack near it.) and it gets a little stained inside (even though Im drinking white tea). Anyway, its a great product, you dont even need to think twice. Almost perfect for tea-lovers I purchased this item due to the number of great reviews. After using it for a few weeks I agree that it keeps things very hot for very long, has a great seal (no leaks), and is easy to use. The only thing I dont like is the mesh for straining tea is just too big, there are always various bits of tea that get through and end up at the bottom of the mug. A finer mesh would have made this item just about perfect. So good it will probably be discontinued Ive been beating this mug up for over a year. The mugs not as pretty as it used to be but it works just as well as the day I received it. Buy two; youll want to give one to someone as a gift. You want HOT? This is HOT! Nissan 12-Ounce Stainless-Steel Tea Tumbler with Infuser definitely keeps your tea/coffee/hot beverage HOT! The best thing is the lid that screws on tight so you can carry it anywhere! Great overall Used these for couple of years now. Keep beverage warm for hours, my morning cofee is still warm. Its 5 hours ago. To top it all, its spill proof if you dont over tighten the cap. The only downside is that they only supply one rubber seal for the cap. The seal collects dirt and cofee grinds after a year or so and you cant clean it. I wish they include a spare one. I dont use the tea infuser. It would have been perfect 5 stars. Exactly what I was looking for, and more I was looking for a stainless steel tumbler with a leak proof lid. This one even came with a tea strainer attachment/inner lid which is a big plus for me! Rather than putting loose tea into the strainer and discarding the tea leaves once brewed, I put the loose tea leaves on the bottom of the cup, attach the strainer lid, pour hot water, place the leak proof lid and out I go. I keep adding hot water to brew the tea more than once -- especially if its a good quality green tea, you can definitely brew it more than once. It is absolutely leak proof so that I can just throw it in a bag and I dont have to worry about it leaking. I bought one for myself, one for my son and two to give as birthday presents to tea loving friends. They are all loving it. A great product. Outstanding I decided to become a tea drinker so I purchased this mug. I have to say that I think it is outstanding. It keeps your drink very hot for a long period of time. I filled my mug with tea, went to the gym, and an hour and a half later it was still almost too hot to drink (that was with the lid on of course). It still stays at a good temperature for drinking for several hours with the sipper lid on. But dont expect the mug to keep your hands warm on a cold day because even with almost boiling water in it it will be cool to the touch. I will say as other reviewers have noted that little bits of tea get through the mesh, but it doesnt bother me. I figure Im just getting more leafy goodness! It is a bit expensive, but often times you only get what you pay for and I believe this item to be worth every penny. I have not tried any cold drinks, but I am sure it will perform just as well. It does make a small cup Id say it only fits about 10 oz really. Overall great item, I am very pleased. [...] best coffee thermos i've found in 4 years i love this thermos so much, it goes everywhere with me. ive been searching for the perfect coffee/tea thermos forever, and i finally found it! keep hot stuff hot for over 6 hours, its easy to clean, and it has a screw on lid so i can throw it in my backpack! it doesnt have any weird taste/smell - and it has a "wide mouth" so even soups or other hot food items could be stored in it. the tea infuser guy has relatively big holes in it, so if youre trying to brew a tea that has lots of little bits, it goes through it. but for tea leaves its great. i bought one of these for my best friend hannah for her birthday a few months ago, and she still tells me DAILY, "i am in LOVE with this thing." (she usually screams the word love) great for tea lovers This has been a great product. Ive used both the sipping lid and the tea infuser. Both have worked great. The lid is great when you simply want to throw the tumbler in a bag. The longest Ive ever kept things in the tumbler is about 10 hours and it has been able to keep my teas warm for that long. Stylish and functional. I will warn those who want to use the infuser that you will need something to throw the tea leaves away in after you have brewed. However the tea infuser does clean up well. A+ thermos, best solution for tea on the go I bought this to replace a thermos I got for free and it solved virtually all my problems. It doesnt spill due to the gasket-ed lid, its small enough to fit in most of my bags, and it has a tea strainer. Its size also makes it ideal to use at coffee shops instead of paper cups. The two small downsides are that no handle means I cant clip it to anything, and that the mesh of the tea basket is too wide for finer teas and yerba mate, but it still works. A plus, it kept my coffee warm while walking across town in below zero temps. Totally leakproof! When trying to keep liquids hot or cold when on the go, spillage or leakage is always an issue. This Stainless Tumbler solves the problem beautifully. Once the hot/cold liquid is placed into the tumbler, simply screw the sipping lid on and then add the sealing screw cap. To use, unscrew and remove the screw cap and sip from the sipping lid. The screw cap + sipping lid when screwed on correctly, make this totally leak-proof. And it will keep coffee hot for up to 6 hours! Jim Great product! I had purchased this item from a local shop at $30 and liked it so much I bought two more for gifts. I then discovered it on Amazon at almost half the price so I bought two more for gifts. I have several tea-drinking friends and they love it also. I even used this at home rather that using a tea pot. It is a wonderful product for tea drinkers. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Amazon service was just great! Nissan Mug-bad choice for ME This was not a good choice for me, because it has too many parts. I really want a mug that has an infuser built in and that stays in place throughout my cup of tea. I have already misplaced the infuser basket and lid (have had the cup less than 3 weeks) because you have to remove the basket and replace it with another lid to drink. This is messy (where do you set the basket full of wet leaves while you are replacing the lid? Do you carry another item like a plastic container to hold it?) If you make your cup and change lids before leaving home then youll be all set, but I want to carry leaves and make another cup later (I work 12 hours shifts). It does keep tea warm for hours, so that is a very good feature; it also doesnt spill through the sealing lid made for carrying it in your bag, and this lid will fit over the drinking lid or the leaf basket. Love this item! This is perfect for travel or for keeping hot beverages, like coffee, within the workplace when you need to keep a lid on beverages. I bought a few more to have in case I lose one or they decide to grow legs and walk off. Best tea thermos I've ever had My husband and I are big tea drinkers and we both carry a thermos for tea with us throughout the day. This is now the thermos we both reach for - it keeps the tea hot for the entire day, and the strainer makes it so much easier to drink from. We need a second one so we each have the good thermos! Bad return policy The product came badly damaged,It was ordered as a gift and so was not opened immediatly, when the product was found to be severly dented I requested their RMA number, it took several days to get that and they only give ten days to return. With the holidays this was impossible and they refused to accept it after those ten days expired. Would not recommend to anyone who wants a quality product and service! Maybe works a little too well... This is a great product, it works well at what it does, and it keeps tea hot. Very hot, in fact. Perhaps even too hot. I find myself just taking off the lid for a while during the day in hopes of avoiding a scalding. best thermos ever this thermos is awesome. i have been using it for over two weeks now, and it is absolutely perfect. i love that it has a screw on lid so i can throw it in my backpack, and not worry about spilling. it also has a wide mouth, and is easy to clean with a kitchen scrubber. i havent used the tea strainer yet - it does look like the holes may be a little big for finely ground tea leaves. stays hot for hours, or for about an hour with the screw lid off and the sipping lid still on. great size - about a cup and a half of tea, perfect for a day at work. it looks like it will also work great for stuff like soup or other foods because of the wide-mouth. very nice. definitely worth the money. Waste Reducer and Fine Product I have had to re-purchase this item more than once because it is either stolen or I accidentally left it on top of my car when I head off to work. I am a women on the go and do not have time to enjoy my tea or coffee at home so I just fix my drink, slap it in my tote bag and go. The inter-lid used for coffee keeps the liquid piping hot for at least 5 hours. I prefer using the inter-lid tea strainer for my latte drinks to avoid having to wait too long to enjoy my drink at a reasonable temperature. Most of the time I use the thermos to enjoy my daily lattes or hot chocolates and rarely for tea infusion. When I plan to drink tea I prefer taking hot water and then adding my tea at the exact time I plan to drink it; otherwise, your tea tastes funky if left to brew in the mug for more than an hour (green tea). The lattes do no not turn funky if left in the mug for about 4 hours. Never leave any liquid containing milk inside the mug overnight, unless, you have spare time in the morning to clean the funky mold smell out. Please note, I scolded my legs really bad once for being negligent and not closing both lids properly. It does not leak if handled properly. Most of all, it reduces paper cup waste. Whenever I use my own thermos at my local coffee shop they provide me with a little discount for using it. I had a local trophy shop engrave a previous mug, it looked good but was stolen anyway. Good until the vacuum seal goes I loved this mug - it lasted me for maybe 3 years, and it was great, until the vacuum seal popped off, one day. Then it was still a great mug to sip from at work (kept hot liquids hot to warm for 2 - 3 hours) but was not good to carry around in a bag. Though I was able to put the seal back on, and the lid still screws on, liquid dribbles out and onto my books and things. The tea infuser could have been a bit finer (was good for larger, coarser tea leaves, but smaller finer ones would get through). So its a great mug - I just wish it lasted longer (but then I guess people would stop buying new ones:-). Excellent insulation Ive owned this mug for almost a year now, it was a Christmas gift from my wife. Ive used it to brew tea, but I use it everyday for coffee. If I preheat this with very hot water for a couple minutes, this will keep coffee exceptionally hot for at least two hours, and drinkably warm for about four... and thats with the drinking lid on! With the sealed lid on, Im sure it would last longer. Its really quite amazing how little heat this loses. The rubber rings are little tedious to clean, but worth the extra effort for the insulation benefits. I would recommend this for any commuter, or really anyone who wants to enjoy hot coffee/tea all day long. Great thermos. Comment to those mentioning leakage. Im a student, and Ive owned 2 of these thermoses, the first of which I left in a class by accident. Theyre great! They keep liquids hot at least 6 hours if generally sealed, cleanup isnt too bad and theyre durable, BUT both have shared the same issue with leakage some have commented on, and this might be the reason: Remember your chemistry and physics fundamentals. Heat increases kinetic energy making atoms and molecules move about more. This also means they will expand and take up more space! If you fill this thermos relatively close to the top with a highly heated water base, then seal it, the thermos will NOT be able to withstand the internal pressure! This is not a pressure cooker! Its simply an affordable screw-on top thermos! Case in point: I always pour some hot water into my cups/mugs/thermoses and dump it out before pouring the water I mean to use. I do this prolong prevention of heat escape. Well, I made the elementary error of including this process with my thermos. Thus the temperature was much higher and I didnt leave enough room for expansion, so my thermos leaked. So if you like your liquids particularly hot, DONT fill it all the way to the bottom of the lid! Be sure to leave the liquid a few centimeters. However I will note that if you keep the thermos lid-up, it will not leak. Use your best judgments in your appropriate situations. LOOK NO FURTHER SIMPLY PUT, WONDERFUL! I PUT THIS IN THE FREEZER FOR AN HOUR OR SO, AND ICE STAYS IN MY DRINK FOR OVER 24 HOURS! Great idea with quality control issue? I like the idea of this mug. I chose this mug over the briefcase bottle because it is smaller (I dont drink that much coffee) and wider-mouthed (i.e., easier to clean). After trying the mug out, I have one design nit with the mug, which is that the two lids are perfectly smooth around their edges -- no indentations or even much texture to help you screw the lid down, and the lids dont seem to "hard stop" at any point as you screw them on, so its hard to feel confident that you are getting a secure seal without a lot of elbow grease. Unfortunately I was unable to really road test the mug because the one I received was leaky. Fortunately I found this out over my kitchen sink. I put hot coffee in it -- definitely well below the maximum fill line that is thoughtfully marked on the inner surface -- and screwed down the sipping lid, and then the top lid, both very tightly. When I turned the mug over, coffee started spurting/bubbling out of the seal between the sipping lid and the stainless steel base; the seal between the sipping lid and the top lid seemed fine. I tried re-seating both lids several times with the same result each time. (Later, I tried it with cold water, which didnt spurt like the coffee but definitely did have a dribble down the side after being turned upside down and then righted.) It seems like this is not the typical experience with this mug, so I considered ordering a replacement, but based on a few reports of leaks with this and the similarly structured Nissan backpack bottle, I think the design of these bottles may just be a little flawed in terms of reliable leak-proofing. So Im returning this mug and going with the more traditional briefcase bottle instead. Excellent product! This is a great mug. I have had my fair share of thermos mugs but this is the best I have ever had, combining a regular sip top with a lid. I stick this mug full of hot coffee in my purse every morning, it lies in there horizontally, and it has never leaked one drop. With other mugs I often have to have help to open the top as they stick on there really hard when the liquid is hot and are totally stuck when it is cool and time to open the mug, this one I can always open myself. I bought one for my husband too, he rides his motorcycle to work every day and can finally take his coffee along to work! The tea feature is a very nice bonus. Great mug Convenient size, works best if you fill with boiling water first (for about 5 minutes-will stay hot for about 2 hours).....otherwise, the beverage will stay warm for about 45 minutes. I really like the fact that you can use it for tea too ! Nissan tea strainer thermos I recently purchased this for myself as a mothers day gift. It was a good investment. Liquids do stay hot for many hours. It does not leak in my bag. One complaint...it is not large enough. 11oz of tea is hardly enoungh. Someone suggested to leave tea leaves in the bottom and drink through the strainer, although effective if pouring the tea out of the thermos right away, if left to sit, the tea became bitter and I got a serious caffiene buzz! I would not recommend this practice. I know its a little pricey and is a bit too small, but I love it, it was a lovely gift to me. Nissan 11-Ounce Stainless Steel Coffee and Tea Traveler I bought one of these after looking all over for a sturdy travel mug that filled these requirements: Doesnt impart a flavor to my loose leaf teas, very sturdy, has a method of keeping the tea leaves seperate as you drink, spill proof lid, approximately 10-16 oz. This cup rocks! As a bonus it keeps any hot beverage hot for a way long time! Built very well and I looked at some by Bodum but the workmanship wasnt even close. I have since bought two more to give as presents to two of my tea drinking friends. Its so good that at work I dont even use my tea pot anymore. Highly recommended! Best little Thermos made I can sip on a cup of coffee for hours and it never gets cold, put the cap on and dont worry it does not leak!! I only wish it held 4 more ounces. Does what you ask it to Great little Thermos. I bought this so that I could toss it in a backpack and not worry about it getting all over my books or laptop throughout the day, which it accomplishes very well. Getting the seal right is a little tricky the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy. It keeps your favorite beverage hot for several hours. It is also very sturdy. I dropped it on a hard surface from about 4 feet off the ground (twice in a row) and there was nothing to show for it. This was seconds after I had just filled and sealed it, and not a drop leaked from the little guy. Still works great weeks later. Be aware: The capacity isnt so great, as theres a little fill line about two inches below the rim that you cant go above if you want to ensure a proper seal. Also, since there are multiple lids, make sure you get everything when it arrives! I ordered from Amazon and the sipping lid was missing. They sent me a new one within a week. If you dont mind limited capacity and want a sturdy, effective, and leak-proof (if used as directed) thermos, then this is the one for you! Vacuum Insulated Travel Coffee Mug Just what I was looking for-a small mug that does not leak, fits in my lunchbox or pocket and keeps my black coffee very hot for 4-6 hrs.Nissan 11-Ounce Stainless Steel Coffee and Tea Traveler Good buy. I purchased the Nissan travel mug, so that I may use it for tea. It was well worth the price. My only wish, is that the tea infuser was more fine, so as not to allow any tea to pass through to the drink. I would purchase this mug again in the future. Don't scald yourself Like other Nissan Stainless products, this mug lives up to its claims. Almost too well. If you make tea with the tea strainer, and you use boiling water to steep the tea, make sure you let the water cool to a drinking temperature before you put any lids on, or else youre sure to scald yourself. With the lids on, it will keep the water at a scalding temperature for over an hour! Yow! An Amazing Little Thermos I bought this Thermos to bring my mid-day espresso with me. I couldnt be happier. The 11 oz (probably really 10 oz) size is perfect for me. My homemade latte is already a 2 oz shot with 8 oz of milk. It holds about the same amount as an ordinary coffee mug. I warm my milk and pull my shot at 8AM and it is still warm at 1PM...not piping hot, but my latte never is. The drink is about lukewarm around 2:30pm. Altogether, I am impressed. It helps to warm the Thermos with boiling water before adding anything. I think the containers only weakness is the heat released around the plastic top - Im no engineer so I dont know how to fix that issue. Im sure if you put a boiling hot beverage in, it will still be hot 6-8 hours later. However, youll notice a difference if you start with a 140-160 degree beverage. I havent used the tea function yet; when I compare the mesh basket to other mesh tea baskets I own, the Nissans mesh basket doesnt appear to be tightly woven enough for smaller leaf teas. Youd definitely need to make some modifications for it to be a perfect tea vessel. My one suggestion is to practice sealing the container a couple of time with plain water before you put it in your bag. Fill it, close it, and turn it upside down over your sink. Sealing it properly requires a certain amount of feel that it is hard to get right the first time you use it. Overall, I would highly recommend this Thermos. If you dont require a huge Thermos and you arent using it for smaller leaf tea you will be very happy. Love this container The best coffee container! With its twist off top, tea attachment, to its size. Great for commuting. I can throw it in my bag or under my seat on the train, and not have to worry about spills. Love it. Best insulated container you'll ever own! I received this container for Christmas about 4 years ago and absolutely love it. Right on the packaging it claims to be "The best vacuum-insulated container youll ever own." Now this is a pretty bold statement, but here I am to tell you that its true. It keeps my tea/coffee/hot chocolate hot for hours. I often road trip and will seal it when I take off, to find that 3 hours later it is just as hot as when I left. Even better, it stays a great temperature the entire time I am drinking from it, and I tend to sip on beverages for a while. I was devistated because I lost it about 2 months ago and desperately sought out another replacement (because I couldnt remember exactly what the brand, etc was). I tried a few other containers but none matched the ability of this one. What I love is that the top is not snap on, but twist on, so I have no fear of it leaking or the top popping off in my purse/bag/backpack. Like a few people before, I do wish it was a bit bigger, but overall this is an amazing product I have recommended to many people. Luckily, I tracked it down, purchased another, and happily use it on a near daily basis. Perfect mug for commuters I used to have one of these before and lost it at a party. Since then I had been looking for a similar one, but could never find a mug with a spill-proof lid. This mug has a screw on lid that allows it to be tucked away in a bag while traveling. Once sealed, this mug will keep a hot beverage hot for well over an hour. It has one lid for coffee or cold beverages and another for tea. Highly recommended for commuters who travel on a train or bus to go to work/school. Excellent I use the Nissan stainless steel tea and coffee traveler almost every day. It keeps my tea very very hot after hours. Love It. Excellent product Ive had this mug for three years and am very pleased with it. It holds a normal sized cup of coffee or tea, and you can completely seal it and toss it in your briefcase without worry. I like the two piece lid: the bottom part is a sipping lid and the top is a cap that completely seals the mug. There is also an interchangeable teaball cap, which I never use. The only time Ive had trouble is if it is overfilled. There is a fill line on the inside as a guide. If you overfill, the mug will leak, both when drinking or in your bag. Highly recommend this product. Simply the Best of it genre! I have one of these 11-Ounce Nissan "travelers" that I have carried every day for five years. The first one I had, I left on the top of my truck and backed over it. Thus, I have two more in my cabinet that are spares. I will not be without it. It fits every car carrier I have ever seen; I can slip it in the pocket of a jacket, or gym bag or back pack. If you are attentive in screwing the top on after filling, it WILL NOT leak. It keeps coffee hot for the better part of a day. It is like a Browning shotgun, Orvis waders, zippo lighters--it has a feel to it that lets one know at once that it is a well-made product. You will not be disappointed, and you will probably purchase others for friends who will be delighted to get them! Nissan Tea Traveller This is perfect for tea finatics like myself. You can make your hot tea right into the travel mug and then youre ready to go with a leak-free cup! I love it and never leave home without it. good but not great This mug is good and them I found the JOEmo tea brew from Highwave which is great. This mug holds 11 ounces and JOEmo teabrew holds 14 oz with a nicer open close system that can be turned off and on preserving heat and a much finer mesh for tea. Even works for my very fine Rooibos tea unlike the Nissans wide mesh filter and the Highwave mug has a better price. Both mugs keep it hot a long time which is nice for my crazy life. The best travel mug around It is a great mug, i just wish they made them in a 20 ounce size too. Works well, but not totally leakproof... **another update** I just threw this product in the trash. The leaking kept getting on my clothes even just for car use--because it leaks where the top screws on (below where youd drink from). So as Id take a drink of coffee and wind up wearing some. This has turned out to be one of the worst products Ive bought in quite some time. I imagine it may work OK for some but theres no rubber stoppers or anything--apparently the quality control isnt up to ensuring the tolerances/lack of room for error this product provides. Go instead with the OXO Good Grips Click & Seal Travel Mug. That item is totally leakproof and actually holds a couple ounces more as well and has about the same size base so fits in the same cupholder the Nissan did. ** previous review ** I wrote this review initially praising the quality of this item and waxing poetic about how well this keeps stuff cold/hot. And it does do that very well. But mine Ive found is not *totally* leakproof. Mine leaks a little from the top (significantly if you tap the side of it near the top)--so as one reviewer mentioned having this in a briefcase or purse--I dont think this would work for that AT ALL. Your papers, etc., would be wet. If this sits upright in a cupholder all the time youll have no problem. But I cant lay mine sideways and let it roll all over without fear of it leaking like I thought I would be able to. Unfortunately I learned the hard way and had to clean up vanilla latte off the seats of my car. Also, its important to be aware how small this is. I bought this size because I drive a european car that has a very small cupholder--something narrow and not-so-tall was a must. For this, this actually fits in the tiny cupholder and works perfectly. On the other hand, I didnt really stop to consider before ordering that 11oz really isnt a lot of useable space. If you happen to want a cold drink in here and put ice cubes in this you may have 7-8 oz of real drink room left. If youre using the tea strainer, that also takes up space internally as well--so in that configuration I doubt youd be able to get an actual 11oz in here (as with the ice cubes). So this really is pretty small. So this is (as advertised, actually) best suited for those that want a single, *small* cup of hot coffee and thats it. As they call this a "Coffee and Tea Traveler" I cant fault them for the small size--I just dont think I was really understanding how little room there would be in here. the bomb!!! it is the best thermos i ever owned. i use it for my cofee and tea. the best feasture of this cup is that it will keep it warm over 24 hours. i travel with it to bart and carry it on my hike. it never leaks on me whether it is in my purse or backpack. it is great! Nice compact thermos.. This Nissan stainless thermos is just the right size and easy to carry in a bag. It maintains the temperature of my hot/cold beverages for hours. However, I wish the sip lid and cap were either made with higher quality plastic or stainless steel. Ive owned it for a few months already and can still taste the plastic when Im drinking hot liquids. Leakproof, insulating mug: a must have for student coffee addicts This thermos is great. I make my coffee at 8 am in the morning and even after 4 hours in the anatomy lab my coffee was still hot. It keeps hot liquids hot for a long time even without preheating the container with a rinse of hot water. This little trooper withstands me, which is a feat in and of itself. I have dropped the thing down flights of stairs and done it many more injustices but it still looks exactly the same as the day that I got it from Amazon. As with everything, however, there are pros and cons. Pros: -It is a tank that can withstand the abuse of a careless student. -It keeps liquids hot longer than any other thermos that I have had. -It is actually spill-proof with the outer lid on. I would be willing to toss the thing in the same bag with my laptop without worrying that I will not have a computer. -It looks handsome. Cons: -Its thin. If you want to clean it with soap and water, you either have to have very small hands (I can do it!) or use a baby bottle brush. On the flip side, however, it can just be rinsed out with water immediately following use. -Its not dishwasher friendly. (I never use my dishwasher....) -It doesnt really hold that much liquid. If you dont want your drink to spill over when you put the last lid on, you will have to withhold from adding more water. Overall, I still love this thermos. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Its functional and has served me well. I use it daily and the only reason that I actually do dishes every day is so that I can make sure that I have a thermos to put my coffee in to survive 8:30 Neurology in the morning. P.S. I drink tea, but not leaf tea. And I have never put tea in this thermos before, so I cant evaluate it for that. Kept my tea hot and easy to clean I love this thermos/travel mug! It took a while to get used to because I kept burning my tongue 3 hrs into drinking my tea. It is also easy to clean. The only I wished was it was a little bit bigger so it could hold about 3-4 cups of tea. But this product delivered as promise and I cant complain. Great product - too small! I have never had an insulated beverage mug keep things HOT as long as this one. It does a FANTASTIC job of insulating! It just wasnt large enough for me. They need to make one just like it that holds 2 cups of tea instead of one! Excellent thermos for backpack This thermos never spills and my tea is hot for several hours. It holds about one cup. Excellent choice! Just great! Simplicity itself. Perfect seal, fits the cars cup holder, hotter than blazes even after multiple meetings, and nice looking. If I lost it Id order another immediately. Great for Kids' Lunchboxes too My daughter likes bringing her own milk to school, and weve struggled to find a good way to pack it in her lunchbox. The pop-up straw thermoses work fine for awhile, but then they inevitably leak. The old-style lunchbox-size glass thermoses are impossible to find, and every other stanless steel one weve found is too tall to fit in her lunchbox. This one fits the bill perfectly. It fits in a standard-size lunchbox, keeps her milk cold all day, and its easy to clean. But the best part is, it DOESNT LEAK. Hurrah! A must-have for very hot tea! Ok, I bought this for my coffee, and was on my way to throwing out the tea strainer. But I have several containers of loose tea so I am very glad I kept it. This container kept my hot tea to an almost scalding temperature for 4 hours! Heres a hint if you do use this for tea...put your tea in the basket, pour in your hot water, then screw the top on real tight. Then flip the entire thing up-side-down to steep the tea. Otherwise, I find that I can never fill it up enough to get the tea nice and wet. This is good for coffee too, but I usually drink my coffee too quickly to determine how long it would actually stay hot. Saves on Dry Cleaning I first was hesistant to pay $22 for a cup for coffee. One review convinced me by pointing out that daily use over a year makes it practically cost nothing. I have easily saved money by buying this because I am no longer dribbling and splashing myself getting in and out of vehicles, doors, etc, and my clothes no longer have hard to remove coffee spots. Added to that, the coffee is always hot, I dont burn my mouth, hands anymore, this is easily one of the most life improving purchases I would have never thought to make. Love it! Ive had this mug for 6 years, and its still in perfect condition. Its completely dishwasher safe and very easy to clean. And in regards to heat retention, Ive had occasions where Ive made coffee for work and then accidentally left in the car. When I came out 8 hours later--still warm! Im about to buy two more as gifts. the best I've found Im always looking for a better travel mug. This one has them beat so far. It doesnt leak if you get the lid screwed on right. [I have had it leak a couple times when I didnt get it on quite right, however.] It keeps liquids hot for a long time. My average is 5 hours, but that is hot coffee with milk added, so Im starting with a slightly cooled beverage. Piping hot liquid would probably go to 7 hours or more. I just tried the OXO Liquiseal and was disappointed. I am now going back to this one. If you drink coffee, you need this mug. When I bought this mug about 6 years ago, I paid $30 for it. I almost walked away from it b/c it was $30, but a friend of mine asked, "How often do you drink coffee?" "Uhm, every day." "And how often do you spill it?" "Uhm, almost every day." This is seriously the best purchase Ive ever made. Ive left the mug in my bag for 6 or 7 hours and opened it to find hot coffee and no leaks... You can literally throw this mug upside down in your bag and it will not leak. Buy it if you drink coffee. Super...but mine broke!! I agree with what everyone here says. I think this is a great product, and theres nothing else like it you can find. Thing is - you must be careful about not ever denting it! Mine got dented at the rim after I dropped it after only 3 weeks of use, and it is now totally useless because it wont seal anymore. I hoped it would be more durable than this. Read the instructions This quality and highly efficient thermos works perfectly if you simply follow the enclosed written instructions. It is plainly stated that no part should be placed in the dishwasher. Also, if you make sure that the caps are properly aligned the thermos is absolutely leak-proof. This rugged, smartly designed thermos packs easily, insulates well, and avoids sloppy spills by utilizing a deeply recessed sip cap. I am completly satisfied with my purchase and expect it will give me many years of service. Perfect Solution I have had this mug for several years. I am coming back to buy a second one so I will never be without one when I forget it at work. This is the only solution I have found where I can take my coffee in my briefcase with 0 risk of spills. I love it and most of my friends who have seen it have bought one for themselves. perfect when you don't overfill it I really love this travel mug but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get a tight seal on it. The liquid dribbled out from underneath the black rim, and all over my clothes. I finally discovered it was user error. If I dont overfill the mug, it never ever leaks. I really loved the design and being a big tea drinker, was so pleased to find a mug with a tea strainer. I take back my original 4 star rating and change it to a 5 star. You cant beat this mug, you just have to keep the liquid level down. once a tight seal is made, nothing gets out of this thing. Solution to Tepid Coffee I work at a computer several hours a day and use a coffee warmer plate for my coffee. Unfortunatewly, the warmer underperforms and a steaming cup of coffee is reduced to lukewarm in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes. I bought the Nissan Coffee Traveler a few months ago, and voila! the problem is solved. Coffee stays hot for hours, ouside of the container is cool to the touch, and the lid prevents spills. A perfect solution -- I am now going to buy one for my car! Small, but keeps tea hot My first reaction on opening the box was "This is very small." I havent measured, but I dont think it can hold a full 11oz. It does, however, hold enough tea to give my day a start. Also on the plus side, it is almost gauranteed to fit inside even the smallest cup holder. As far as performance goes, it keeps my tea very hot. My miserable commute can last over an hour on some cold, rainy mornings, yet when I open this Thermos I am always warmed to see steam rising from within. Mayhap it keeps the tea too hot as Im sometimes forced to take uncouth sips from the mug! It is also leak-proof as long as you seal it tight (make sure to put the lids on one at a time). It stays cold to the touch no matter how hot it is inside--this is a mark of a good mug. The shape of the mug is sleek, with a slight curve near the top where you hold it. The plastic top, unfortunately, scratches easily and the stainless steel displays fingerprints a bit too proudly. I would have given it a 5 out of 5 if it was $5-10 less or a little larger. Nonetheless, this is a solid traveller mug from a reputable brand. 4 out of 5. Everything is great but the size This thing is great for making tea and coffee - as advertised. The mug and the tea/coffee-making accessories are very well made and the design is well-thought out. I wish it was a little larger. Years of Daily Use This baby stays HHHOOOOTTTTT....I love it. You simply cant go wrong if you love your coffee or tea hot for a very a long time. I use it every morning, even bought a spare just in case, but the original is like new after all this time (one little dent, but no leaks). I throw it in the dishwasher every night, never preheat it and it just stays piping hot for hours. Mine leaks. Probably just got a bad one. Screw the lid on tight, coffee drips out at the top. Not fun, especially while driving. Great for the Espresso Drinker This is a great travel mug for Espresso Drinkers. Great size, not to big, not to small. Esp. for folks like myself that enjoy cream with their expresso. Keeps your drink nice and hot. 100% leak proof in my experiance. Break for that extra cup or two in the midday. Love it !!! Good Looking, easy to cary but... Updated on 04-18-2004. Go to the bottom after the double line for new info: I bought this product a couple of months ago. Pros: Cons: After some time, the mug did loose its spill-proof ability - I am assuming that I might have a defective piece or maybe it does not like being washed in dish washers. Yet I gave it a four star rating is because I do believe that Nissan makes great products and their build quality is excellent so I dont want to doubt their quality as yet because of one maybe faulty product. Also Amazons great customer service is helping me take a second look at the mug to make sure that I dont get stuck with a defective piece. I have a new one on order; I will write another review once I get it and use it. ================================================================= Keeps hot or cold as promised. I really do like this traveler but felt that it was too small. I had also lost the top cover. I have the 18 ounce on order. I know I will be pleased. It stays chilled overnight and coffee stays hot all morning. $ave your ca$h and buy a bigger mug without the tea brewer First off, I agree with all the comments about the mugs nice ergonomic shape, its ability to keep drinks piping hot for hours, and its spill-proof-ness. But, the title of my review says it all - instead of paying thirty dollars for an 11-oz mug, why not get an 18-oz mug for twenty five (or even a 14-oz for twenty bucks)? All are made by Nissan, with the same durability, ability to retain heat, and good looks. The difference in this mug is the third basket, the tea brewer, which has a mesh that is WAAAAY too coarse. This is a serious problem, since I absolutely detest leaves and other remnants in my tea when I drink it. Herbal or spiced teas (e.g. Chai) are out of the question, and even a basic large-leaf tea like Darjeeling escapes through the mesh (and also gets stuck in it, which makes it a pain to clean). Instead, I would suggest buying Nissans larger 18-oz (or 14-oz) mug, and with the five (or ten) bucks you save, purchase a fine-mesh brew basket, available on amazon.com (ASIN# B0000CFLAP). Remember, you have to remove the built-in brew basket from this mug to fit the sipping lid, so theres no extra effort in removing a fine-mesh, easily washable brew basket instead. Almost Perfect Tea Mug from a tea mug enthusiast I own several travel mugs and this has got to be the best tea mug Ive ever used. The insulation does keep the tea extremely hot for hours. If you leave the cap off, it does cool a tiny bit, but itll still be about 2 hours before your beverage is no longer scalding hot and drops to a drinkable temp. The outside is completely cool to the touch even if you have boiling water inside. The mug is also quite durable and the plastic on the bottom and top protects the metal from getting dented should you drop it. Theres also a nice groove in the mug for you to wrap your hand around to prevent it from slipping. The mesh could be finer but the mug is still my favorite. Its the first one I reach for if Im drinking a hot beverage at any time, even if Im not traveling. Linger over your cup of hot tea as theres no chance of it going cold before you finish the cup. ditto the 5-star reviews I love this thing. Im in grad school, on campus from 9am-11pm every day but Saturday, and this traveler is perfect. Instead of repeating all the other glowing reviews, Ill just add a few things others missed. In addition to its unmatched insulation abilities, the vacuum seal provides another benefit, and that is that it maximizes interior space. Other types of insulation require thick walls to insulate the contents, but with vacuum sealed steel construction, the insulating steel sandwich can be very thin, making the volume of the inside layer nearly equal to volume of the outside layer. Its a small thermos that carries quite a bit of fluid. One other thing to clarify is that this is not exactly a no-spill container. There are three tops: an inner top that is completely open but for a metal strainer/filter, an inner top that is covered but with a small drink hole in the cover, and an outer top that screws onto both of the previous and completely seals the cup. With the outer top on, the vessel is spill-proof. I carry it in my bookbag all day with nary a spill. But take the outer top off, which is necessary to actually drink out of it, and if you accidentally tip the cup over, liquid will spill out, even out of the sipping hole in the covered inner top. There is no button to push that opens and closes the sip-hole on the covered inner top, like for example on those plastic Starbucks coffee cups. However, the sip hole is recessed about 1 inch below the rim, so while it is not spill-proof, it is certainly splash-proof. Excellent product, I might order a few more, for posterity. Hot stuff When preheated, this keeps coffee/tea piping hot for two or more hours- long enough that the taste goes before the heat! It is indeed watertight and the two lids are well designed. The sipping lid has a deep well so you dont get the spurt of hot liquid on your lips as with some other sipping cups. The tea lid is just plain clever, though the screen is coarse as noted in other reviews. Made in China Great Tea Brewer This is how you brew tea: (1) Remove outer cap and tea filter. (2) Check all gaskets are properly seated. (3) Twist tea filter onto the cup to seat tightly. Put tea leaves in the tea filter. Be sure the tea filter is seated correctly. You can also put tea leaves directly into your cup if that is your preference. (4) Pour hot water up to middle of filter. Over fill may scald. (5) Properly seal the outer cap tightly to prevent leaking when used for travel. Turn upside down for quick brew. (6) Remove outer cap and tea filter after brewing and replace with slipping lid. For Best Results For maximum insulation efficiency: preheat or precool your cup just prior to use, fill with hot or cold tap water, let stand for 5 to 10 minutes and empty. Note that it comes with 3 lids: (1) Outer Cap (2) Tea Filter and (3) Sipping Lid. Great! I am extremely impressed with the near-flawless performance of this tumbler! Heat or cold retention is EXCELLENT (Ive never owned a Thermos Nissan product before, so did not know what to expect, but this thing keeps tea scaldingly hot for hours, and takes several (8+) hours for ice cubes to melt.) The shape of the tumbler is excellent...fits in the hand comfortably. The screw-on "closed" cap is great for sneaking this thing into a library or computer lab without worrying that itll spill inside your bag on your computer or papers. My ONLY complaint (thus 4 stars) is that the tea strainer is: (1) made of a metal screen instead of nylon mesh, and (2) is not of a fine enough weave. With the way this thing keeps stuff hot, you might take a few hours to drink your tea...and if theres a significant amount of tea dust in it (that slipped through the coarse weave of this tea filter), your tea is going to be quite bitter near the end. (I might install a nylon filter inside the metal screen.) All in all, not a bad purchase at all. Works great for teas but only OK for Rooibos This is a perfectly sized bottle for brewing up some tea while working at your desk all day. It keeps it very hot as expected. My only complaint is that the mesh of the tea basket could be of a finer weave. When brewing Rooibos, some of the tea gets into the cup. So leave that last half an ounce in the cup or youll be drinking tea leaves. Loyalty matters This thermos is one of my best friends now. Read reviews above for details. Convenienece and performance Most problems with mugs I have tried in the past are solved in this product. This mug comes with a tight sealing lid so that you can put this mug with hot drink in a brief case upside down and run to a subway station. No spilling, and this product is better than a plain Saran Wrap solution. The sipping lid has a deeply recessed bottom where you have a hole for liquid to come out. That is, the spill risk is very low even in pitching and rolling Bostons subway. So, you rarely need to use the sealing lid unless you want to brew tea in it or put the mug in a backpack. (See the other review to learn how to brew tea in it.) Also because of this deeply recessed sipping lid, this mug is easier to use spill-free while laying on a sofa or maybe even on a bed with a high pillow! Lack of handle presents little inconvenience at any situation Ive used this mug. A both handed person like myself needs not worry which way to put the mug, which way to put the sipping lid, and which hand to hold the mug. Its very left hand friendly, more so than having two landles on each side. If criticism is an obligatory part of the reiview, I offer a few. This mugs tea leaf strainer is given enough space for most loose teas, but it is not enough for some herbal infusions, particularly whole dried preparation of chamomile flower. This mugs advertised capacity is 11 ounces, but the line specifying the maximum fluid level is actually 275ml (10 ounces). I wonder if they could make it a bit taller for increased true drink capacity and enough space for chamomile to expand. The leakproof lids depend on silicon gaskets thus they should not be cleaned in a dishwasher, a convenience requirement. Overall, this mug is slim, tall, leakproof, beautiful design, and very functional and compact. The quality of tea made in this mug is as good as ones made in tea pot as long as the leaf is of good quality (sentimental value not included). The diameter of the mug at its widest (around lid) is only 75mm (3in) so it will fit in most briefcases together with a book and couple manila folders. I just wish it was 8.5in tall and 350ml capacity. Unlike so many poorly designed products, you know this one was designed by designers and engineers who love tea and coffee. almost perfect I adore this thermos mug, but beware: it is not perfectly leak-proof. The other reviews on this site are absolutely right--it keeps things hot for a wonderfully long time, the tea strainer is fantastically easy to use, and it is in most respects great. HOWEVER, you have to be really careful when you screw the lids on that you do it correctly, or the damn thing will leak all over you. Also, it can be screwed on really well, but after a while, you can still get leaks, and you have to unscrew the tops and put them back on. This is a minor pain, but it still really is a pretty good mug. It keeps things really hot while the outside always remains cool to the touch. But it is not perfectly leak-proof. Excellent! This is the perfect size for automobile cup holders. It keeps your beverage hot for six hours, plus! No leaks, no mess. Ive had dozens of commuter mugs in my life - but this one is the best, bar none! Excellent!! This is the first travel mug that never forget to bring home from the office. Actually I dont go anywhere without it. Keeps hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold. I really like the no leak lid. I felt guilty when I ordered it because of the price, but it is worth every penny! Workhorse of a drink container! This is absolutely the best travel cup Ive ever used -- and Ive used a lot! The lid fits tightly without leaking, and whatever I put in it stays cold a looooong time. I didnt time it, but all I know is that I can enjoy my drink without worrying. Also, it has tea maker option which has instructions included on how to brew your own tea right in the cup! Great!!! :o) Ingenious and cool! This hybrid coffee/tea traveler mug is a must for anyone that travels to work or school and wants piping hot coffee/tea on their arrival. It is totally leak-proof, sleek looking and the perfect size! I was so pleased with this product, I purchased the sports thermo by Nisaan and guess what? Its another product of excellence! Nissan personal thermos I use this thermos everyday. It is soooo useful! With the top on I can throw it in my purse without it leaking. It travels well, being the perfect size to discretly take to meetings. It keeps coffee hot for a very long time. It fits in most beverage holders and if riding in someones car without one, I close it up and leave it on the floor when I need to put it down. I think it is well worth the investment to own one. Fantastic I love this little travel mug. I own about 5 travel mugs and never use any other one but this one. I tried brewing coffee in the tea lid too, and it wasnt bad at all. ...They make great gifts, and is the most useful and comfortable travel mug I have ever owned. Happy Brewing. Great insulation, even brews a nice cup of tea! This is a great product- leak proof with amazing heat/cold retention. For tea drinkers, I just thought Id add a better description of how the tea lid works. It is actually not a strainer for leaving the tea leaves in the cup (the tea would be so bitter!), but an ingenious way of brewing tea! You put hot water in the cup, then screw on the strainer, add the loose tea leaves, screw the top lid on, and turn the cup upside down for a quick brew! (Since it is leak-proof, you actually can turn the cup upside down easily) After brewing, you just turn it right side up and replace the strainer holding the spent leaves with the sipping lid, and voila- a quick and pretty decent cup of tea! Highly recommended. Just what I was looking for I needed something with a spill proof, screw-on lid so that I could carry my coffee to work in my briefcase. The Nissan Stainless Steel Coffee Traveler was perfect. I now have a free hand, no spills and hot coffee. Great Product I dont have this model but an older model. The heat-retention capacity is incredible. Coffee stays steaming hot for at least 12 hours! This model may be slightly different, but Nissan makes great products. |
