very useful

Other people stated that this basket was too woobly and not sturdy enough. You have to attach the U shaped bar support or the basket is not sturdy enough. Otherwise, it is perfect. I carry my big Mom purse, water bottle and an extra pair of shoes in it. One tip is to wrap a bungy cord on top of the basket once you have filled it. I learned this the hard way. My shoes flew out when I went over a curb. OH, and I saw this same basket at a bike shop for $30 plus tax.. I bought it here for $16. including shipping.

Great Basket

I absolutely love my basket. I have a sweet beachcruiser and the basket just made it all the more cooler. It was very easy assemble. My girlfriend and I got it done in like 5 minutes.

Not the greatest...

The basket is sort of flimsy and I had a hard time getting it on the bike. It frequently falls onto my wheel, obviously a problem. I have attached it now with a bunch of bungee cords and that works to keep it on, but then I cant take the basket off.

Flimsy

This basket was difficult to attach to my bike and I could not get it to stop falling on the wheel. In addition, it was incredibly difficult for me to pull the basket out of the carrier to take with me. I opted to go to my local bike store and purchase a different wire-mesh basket that I am far happier with. It slides into a carriage and has large red buttons so that I can adjust the angle it sits at and release it from the carriage. All in all, I would not recommend the Wald Front basket.

Must install correctly

This product must be installed correctly to operate correctly(Obvious, huh?). I originally didnt study the examples given and just installed it to however it seemed to work and I had the same complaint as the negative reviewer: The bottom bar that pushes against the headstem would just fall off(I positioned such that it was tilted downwards) causing the basket to smash right into the front tire! After I looked at the pictures(Like the one at the top of this page), it became apparent the bottom bar is suppose to tilt upwards where the headstem meets with the handlebar and after reconfiguring it, it has never fallen off and is pretty sturdy. Its also VERY convenient for trash(And other more endearing objects), like when youre going through the late-night drivethrough(Its happened before!). Also, my handlebars are much thicker than the bicycles handlebars in the picture so the supplied handlebar mounts and screws didnt really work and it wouldve taken a thinner and much longer screw to mount it: instead, I just used solid core wire laying around and wrapped it really tight. The mounts are still not completely "grasping" the bar, but its solid enough to work. I have a 2008 Diamondback Response moutain bike so maybe its not meant for newer mountain bikes in general? Or Diamondbacks specifically? Or, specifically, responses?

Another note of caution is that the baskets handle is supposed to be in the pointing-up position when placing it on the rack, push in firmly and it should pop in, and then lay the handle to the side and it secures the top part of the basket. It appears like it should be pretty obvious, but I can understand how something like that can be missed since ... well... I dont remember it being in the instructions.

Great for around-town errands.

This is a wonderful little bike basket. I dont understand the reviewer who says it "falls off at the slightest touch"--Im pretty sure they must have installed it incorrectly.

Im very happy with it, and use it on my Cannondale hybrid bike to go to my local grocery. I was worried that it might not fit my bike, but (much to my relief) it wasnt a problem at all. The best part is that when Im done with my errands and want to go out for a ride, I can take the basket off and the bike is back to its original look. Highly recommended.

A sturdy basket

nicely made with powder coat finish. I dont like that the lower support rubs on the post. They should put some nylon tubing on that so it doesnt scrape the paint.

Im completely satisfied with this product. It was easy to install. A previous review mentioned that it can be easily stolen but putting a lock on it solves this problem.

Love this basket

I researched this bike basket here on Amazon and I want to thank the people who gave this basket 5 stars. Its great. My husband attached it to the bike so I cant comment on that but he did it quickly, without any cursing so it couldnt have been too hard (he is pretty good at this stuff tho).

Its easy to put the basket on and take it off and it is stable and solid on my mountain bike. Its really elegant the way it attaches. I throw my giant chain and lock in the basket instead of having it precariously on the rack in back or wrapped around my waist (ugh). And I can actually shop and carry stuff safely. Love it!

Well Made but don't buy for old 10 speed racer bike

Unfortunately it doesnt fit on my old raliegh ten speed..my fault ..should have scrutinized ithe dimensions more carefully. As long as you have ample room on the front handle of your bike,this well made product should easily install and do the job.

Sturdy and practical

I bought this basket to go on the front of my mountain bike, which I also use to go grocery shopping and for other various errands. It fits comfortably on the front of my bike, and comes off easily for shopping and when I go riding on back trails (the basket stand is minimal and doesnt impede rough riding). I did have to remove my front reflector because the basket stand takes the space, but that was easily placed higher up on one of my handle bars.

Im not sure why some reviewers say their baskets fall off--the handle of the basket locks it into place when down, and there are 2 hooks on the bottom of the basket holding it in place. The only way that basket is coming off is if the handle is up and the basket is lifted off the hooks. The only suggestion I have is to wrap the handle with some cloth or something--its thin and can hurt your hands when full of heavy groceries/items. Other than that, its a great little basket! If it works on my cheapo mountain bike, it should work on anything.

Awesome bike basket!

What a great basket! I recently decided to make cycling my main mode of transportation, so I needed something that would hold a bunch of stuff (lunch, my oversized purse, a hoodie), and this fits it all. Also, I like that I can take it off to go shopping. Its very sturdy, and easy to decorate (gold spray paint, a reflector and fake geraniums spruce mine up)! Ride on!

I love this basket! I "installed" it in about 10 seconds since it just clips on so easily, and I didnt need to remove any bike parts or use any tools. However, since it isnt locked on in any way, it is just resting on the bike, Im worried it will be stolen, so I used zip ties to fasten it on, and I do not use the lift off feature. The basket is a very useful size that fits a backpack easily.

The bicycle basket is sturdy and practical and a good size. A real advantage is that it can be easily removed to carry anything in it.

Unusable - falls off at the slightest touch

This basket is a poor design for bicycles. Both the mount and the basket have problems, and bottom line, the basket will not stay on unless you go to extraordinary lengths to create a custom mount for yourself.

Save yourself the trouble and go to the local bike shop like I did to get a basket thatll stay on.

BTW, I dont know what the other reviewers are looking at, but after actually handling this basket, I would seriously question the authenticity of these online reviews.

Living in the Orting Valley in Washington State has been made better with my Wald basket! It was easy for my husband to install and now I know exactly how many ears of corn or melons I can carry home from our local produce stand. Excellent rack, easy to use, we are getting another one for my husbands crusier!

very handy

This basket is very simple to insall and use. No need to empty the basket, just lift off and carry with you. Great for picking up a few things at the store. I bring can bring the basket into the market with me so I dont over buy. I was impressed with the prompt shipping and quality.

Its my 2nd basket, first one got stolen with a bike :(
I ride to work, I carry my lunch and a bag, bottle of water, can put more staff and secure it with bungee cord. I was able to install it all by myself!
