Cars have them, Now bicycles can too!

I was a pretty hard core bike rider starting at a young age. At a point in my life I rode over 100 miles per day. In resent years Ive stopped riding because I got tiered of maintaining the bike and also the super high price of replacement parts. I friend was speaking of a internal geared hub, but with no gears. I looked into this hub and was blown away by its design. It was love at first sight! I had to get one. I went on a intersearch for this NuVinci hub. Every time one popped up on Ebay, it sold for around $300. I than found a NOS hub with a cheap bike included.(about $500.) I went for a ride and found myself in total bliss! This is what Id been waiting for. I now ride everyday and really enjoy the trouble free action of this hub.

have just had this item built into a new rear wheel for some distance riding. put about 30 miles on it the first week with an additional 100 a few days ago. doesnt seem to require any breaking in period. works really well; can shift when stopped, but not too well when under load.
the hub is HEAVY (built into a 700c rim it weighs approx 11 lbs); so possibly not the best bet if weight is of primary concern. was also a bit complicated to install the cables and shifter.
this hub is definitely an investment, and hopefully it will prove to be a wise one as it gets some mileage and abuse :o)
