First ride at dark with it last night and it wasn't like riding with a spot light when encountering obsticles and things in the path. topeak hp 3watt bicycle light by: on: 25-Sep 2008 excellent product I ride a 27 inch hybrid bike 14-25 mile routes which involve city streets and pitch black paved trails 5ft. wide with sharp turns at speeds 10-18 mph.This light worked well and provided adequate light in total darkness when used in combination with the blackburn quadrant.The topeak is for distance with the quadrant for the 1st 8-10 ft. pros easy to attach and remove,holds position well even with multiple jolts,compact, sturdy. LED light for high efficiency and long life. 3 settings, full power, 1/2 power and flashing mode. Cons slow flash, cr123 batteries instead AA's or AAA's. To use rechargible batteries requires a special charger and the varing voltage of the batteries can damage some lights so purchase these carefully! All in all you can't beat it for the price. In combination with an intermediate light you can ride safely in a variety of terrains and lighting environments. I would definitely purchase one again. Good light, but they truly need to work on reliability  by: on: 13-May 2008 Powerful light, fascinating very accurate design, a lot of features. But the construction is not very reliable. The bail at the end of the light's clamp is very thin and and easily broke after a week of riding. Also you have to be very careful when you thread the light's head. The O-rings on the light's body are very thin and the head has a very sharp v-shaped rim. If you slightly misalign the head when threading, the O-ring can be easily sliced apart. Brightest I've ever seen  by: on: 06-Apr 2007 This is anamazing bright white LED light. More of a spot-light. Useful for seeing the path in front of you in the woods. Overkill for city-streets. Because of its short run times, I would recommend this only to those who do alot of night riding in near pitch-black conditions. View All Headlights |
