Reviews EBike Rack Bag by: on: 28-Apr 2010 I ride a hybrid EBike and have battery bags sitting low on the side of the Topeak explorer rack and needed a MTX rack bag with a lot of cargo capability but not too large. This bag fits the bill! The panniers fold out and sit on top of the battery bags and hold a lot of stuff (lunch box, note book, laptop, etc.) with room to spare. The main compartment I use for tools, water, front and rear lights. This is the perfect bag for electic bikes. Topeak MTX Trunk Bag EX with Side Panniers More like a Glove Box by: on: 02-Apr 2010 Purchased this item with the intent of using it for shopping, and college. A replacement for my day pack. Unfortunately the cargo capacity is seriously lacking. Yes I know I should have read the dimensions better, pulled out a tape measure and mocked it up to better understand how little it will carry. The side panniers measure about 9"x11"x3" will hold one or two textbooks, or a box of cereal, but not a binder, well yes it will but wont zip up. The top trunk is good for a pair of gloves, some maps, a camera, a small bag lunch, and someplace to put my lights, but nothing bigger than a loaf of bread. On the up side the construction appears first rate, the panniers secure solidly to the rack once un-furled, and un-zip about half way down on both side for ease of loading, the shoulder strap is a nice touch, though I'm not sure it'll ever get used. As a dedicated cargo carrier I think their might be something better. But if all you need is a low capacity carrier it should be OK. For the $30+ I paid it's acceptable. Very handy bag by: on: 22-Jan 2010 Bag is sturdy and very well made. Hooks onto the topeak carrier with ease - quick on and quick off. Side panniers hold quite a bit - like to bike to the grocery and this bag fits the bill. I do try and distribute the load between both panniers and have never had a balance issue. When panniers are not needed, they easily fold up and you just zipper them closed. For camping trips, I think I would need a larger bag - however, this would force one to be a little more deliberate in their packing!! Overall, a very good bag and a purchase I have never regretted. P.S. Have seen this bag at the retail price at local bike shops so Amazon.com was the way to go!! Quality bag. Found a good price on it. Happy. by: on: 08-Jul 2009 If you are new to the bike world and have no delusions about riding the Tour de France, this review may be of use to you. I am a novice. I want to ride to work and home and get a little exercise. I will keep a change of clothes at work. I can fit my lunch, litre plus of water, a towel, repair kit, and odds and ends in the main. If I need more room, I can stuff the panniers. If you are envisioning long tours with overnight camping, you probably want something more substantial. This is ideal. Topeak seems to make high Topeak MTX Trunk Bag EX with Side Panniersquality stuff. My first inclination was to get the cheapest rack and bungee a lunch box to it. All and all, I am glad that I bought the Topeak rack and bag system. If you don't want the cool system, you may go for the cheap. But I am really impressed by the quality. Incidently, I am too cheap to buy the special Topeak light to affix to the rack. I cut a 2 3/4" piece of dowel, stuck it in between the vertical, rear handle (visible in pic), and rapped my seat post rear light around it. If you don't have a dowel laying around, a little piece of PVC or the like would work just fine. The reflector that came with the bike fit in the little attachment on the rack itself.
