With this gadget I still use big ole washer but it is a much better fit w/o the skewer. It makes the whole process a breeze now. necessary device by: on: 07-Aug 2008 If you purchase the Pedro's Pro Socket Handle and a Bottom Bracket (BB) socket to work on your bottom bracket, make sure to get this device because it makes the entire system work. In other words, it is largely necessary if doing BB work to get this bolt to hold the socket in place by attaching it to the bike axle, so that the handle is secured to the bike and will not move or jump out when turning to remove/install a BB. Its a good system and it works, though the instructions are absent on how to do this effectively, (from the packaging that it arrived in). Yet, when it works, it works well and it could be a good investment if doing regular maintenance/repairs. In other words, don't purchase the handle without getting this thing too, because it is essentially necessary to make the handle/BB socket work effectively.
