Interbike 1999

Interbike is the largest, most prestigious bicycle trade show in North America. Interbike has all of the latest and most innovative products the worldwide bicycle industry has to offer. And it's all within walking distance of all the shows, restaurants, and rows of casinos that make up the famous Las Vegas strip.

Four days, 900 companies, 60 different countries, Demos, Seminars, Parties, and more. With all that, Interbike's International Bicycle Expo is always the most exciting and important bicycle trade event of the year. Total Bike was on hand for a first hand report.

Very popular with attracting people to your booth is a live show. This is Vegas the bigger the better. The folks at Monty Bikes had live trials shows throughout the day. Crowds would flock to watch the precision riding

Shimano had technical classes throughout the weekend that were packed with professional information. The hottest product from the big S for 2000 is their long awaited disk brake. It will not be available until November. We will be reviewing the brake very soon. Shimano introduced several new road and off-road groupos. If you were already confused. . .good luck. The August edition of Total Bike will have the complete Shimano 2000 lineup detailed.

A test track allowed visitors to try out many bikes during the event. Everything from electric scooters to recumbrants.

On Thursday before the show started participants were able to try out bikes. The forth annual, OnDirt Demo has become a fun and important event for retailers and exhibitors.

This year's demo was largest yet. Hundreds of participants came out try out hundreds of different bikes and products.

Blue Diamond, located 20 minutes west of Las Vegas, was a perfect setting for this outdoor event. Blue Diamonds is surrounded by the scenic mountains of Red Rock Canyon. Excellent singletrack was close by to test mountain bike under actual conditions. Road bikes, Recumbents and electric bikes were tested on a 2.5 mile paved loop around Blue Diamond.
